ICESAVE warning

I have recently opened a new account with ICESAVE with a dep of £250. (my wife has had a couple of accounts with them for some time).
After serveral weeks I have still not received my User ID and I have tried several times to call them but I'm just left on-hold listening to messages about how busy they all are. However, they do say that you can contact them by email, so that's what I've now done and today I have received a response telling me to call them on the number that I pointed out no-one was answering.
When a Bank that bases it's accounts via on-line business does not answer the phone and responds to email by telling you to call them ...
This makes me very nervous,,, so I and my wife are getting out.
Not that I think this will unduly worry ICEsave for one minute

I understand your reasoning to be honest, but ICESAVE are getting a lot of interest at the moment as they have very good products with good interest rates.
With this success they are really pushing the boundaries of their own staffing levels and ability to process new account in a prompt manner as well as answer the phone in a respectable amount of time.
ICESAVE do seem to be trying hard by employing more staff and reducing call waiting times and account opening times.
Its not right but its a supply and demand thing there is a lot of demand at the moment.
I would say that once your account is opened operating an ICESAVE account is easy with no problems at all.
My advise is to stick tight mate and wait for the backlog to clear.0 -

I seem to recall that Nationwide were reported to still be dealing with their backlog of 2007 Cash ISAs into November/December.0 -
I've got through to them with very little wait on that number (OK, it was the SayNoTo0870 alternative, obviously!) in the last couple of weeks.
5 or 10 minutes on hold each time maybe, but nothing too drastic.0 -
Your best bet is to call them first thing in the morning (around 8am). One of the reasons they're so busy is that they have some of the highest interest paying products - not just ISAs but 6-month and one-year savers. I've only just today received my annual tax statement, so they're obviously a bit late on this also.0

got through to them with <10 min wait... great customer service overall0

I've found their e-mail response very poor, but on the phone, it's been quite good. I've had to ring them several times recently and they've always answered after about a 5 minute wait - which isn't bad really. And each lady I've spoken to has been polite and very focused. Stick with em I say.0

My wife and I just transferred Isa's from ING (I'm no good) Bank into our Icesave acct only problem was ING delaying tactics sending cheque to Icesave with my wife's name spelt wrongly for instance making another delay of weeks before icesave kindly told us the other day they had finally recd it. We have had good enough service from this bank considering how busy they have been no problems really and we put our 2008/9 ISA ration in recently as well so--we are now up and running our interest will be paid monthly into our linked bank account--- 10/10 as far as I am concerned.0

Do you really think that ING did this on purpose ? Surely it was just a bad mistake ?0 -

That said, it is ING....Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0
