Car Repair - Insurance Pay? - Confused

Hi.
Firstly sorry if this sounds ridiculous - I know absolutely nothing about my car other than it is insured.
I'm in Germany, and my car is insured with Churchill and it covers me driving in the EU.
My exhaust fell off (:() last night and I needed to have my car picked up by the repairers today from the side of the road (I didnt realise I could have simply removed the exhaust bit and driven home) and have it repaired. They welded the exhaust back on today and it cost me £100 for everything.
Would there be any way I could have this covered by the insurance? The guy at the repairers said to me he would alter the receipt to say whatever it needed to get it paid for me by the insurance if it cover it.
Again, if the answer is "insurance won't cover it" then I am sorry for this sounding all stupid and long-winded!
Thanks!

If the exhaust 'fell off' due to lack of maintenance then it's not an insurance issue - car insurance doesn't cover wear and tear or mechanical/electrical breakdown.
Even if it were covered, £100 is almost certainly less than your excess.0 -

No idea why the damn thing fell off - had an MOT 7 months ago and no problems at all, plus the car is only 4 years old.
Never mind, I think your answer covers what I was looking for, unless anybody else knows any different!0 -

The MOT only proves the exhaust was okay on the day it was tested. Same as tyres, bulbs etc. Anything can go at any time. The increase in speed bumps does seem to cause an increase on things like exhaust clips falling off.
Insurance wouldn't cover this. As you're spending a year in Germany, your insurance probably isn't valid anyway The t&cs say:
'All drivers are at least 17 years of age, hold a valid EU driving licence and are permanently resident in the UK'
and the q&as say:
'Does my policy cover me to drive abroad?
Yes, we will automatically extend your existing cover to travel within the EU for up to 90 days. If you are travelling outside the EU you may wish to extend the level of cover you have in this country to the countries that you are visiting abroad. '0 -
