Kent Reliance BS

Has anyone else had any experience of transferring an ISA out of Kent Reliance?

I opened one last year as their interest rate was one of the better ones at the time but has dropped drastically since then so I decided to move it to a new ISA with Abbey at the end of March. I completed and returned the transfer form to Abbey when I opened the account and they tell me this was duly processed on April 2nd.

I checked the account yesterday and KR still haven't transferred over the funds!!!!

The problem is there's no way of contacting them by phone, even for Abbey, it has to be done by snail mail so they will get back to me next week if they get any response from KR

I'm really beginning to wish I'd never given KR my money now, especially as I'd transferred it originally from Egg when their rate dropped, but I notice their rate has remained at 6.05% since so would have been better off leaving it there in the first place! :(

My thought might be that it is more likely to be an Abbey problem rather than KRBS.
I have had experience with both and, so far KR have never put a foot wrong. On the other hand I will never darken Abbey's doors again!

U can contact KRBS via http://www.krbs.co.uk/contactus.aspx

From experience their replies take a few days, they like phoning rather than emailing, very friendly just not easy to understand what they are saying as KRBS have outsourced to India. images.jpg

Me and OH transferred 4 ISAS from KRBS to Nationwide and didn't experience any problems. In fact if it wasn't for the cr*ppy interest rate, we would have stayed with them as all our dealings have always been positive

Thanks for the replies, so it looks like it's most likely Abbey that's at fault then. I've also just noticed that Abbey has lowered it's interest rate on the Direct ISA 2, which I've not received any notification about, and I'm sure it was fixed at 6.25% for 13 mths

I'll wait and see if they call me back next week as promised and decide whether to stay or go depending on how they deal with this ;)

It was never a fixed account, the only thing which is fixed is the 13 month 'preferential rate' (whatever that is) not the underlying variable rate - see my post #4 HERE.

KRBS took about 3 weeks to transfer my funds out - so not too bad.

With another ISA - opened Abbey Direct online. Other than a pin number, I've had no acknowledgement/communication on this product for 3 weeks - so I've given up and gone with Principality eIsa. Abbey's loss (if they ever get round to opening the ISA...the account was meant to be opened with a transfer in)

I'm seriously thinking of switching it back to Egg, if I can ever get my hands on my money

Kent Reliance Building Society took about three weeks to complete my transfer request to Nationwide. Have been very reliable in the last eight years that I've been with them. I'm only leaving as their direct Isa interest rate is no longer competitive at 5.76%.

If you may, call them on 01634 848944 and you'll be put through to their savings/Isa department where someone should be able to give you an update on the status of your transfer request.
