For standard bayonet fittings, these are easy to get hold of at a reasonable price. If you have dimmer switches fitted you will need to check if the bulb is compatible.
Most low energy light bulbs are made of bending a florescent tube into a small shape. For some people it has been reported that they can give headaches, especially if you suffer from epilepsy.
I don't want the florescent tube type.0 -

Do you want LED bulbs for your fixtures, or do you want the fluorescent energy savers that have an outer glass shell that hides the tubes?0 -

To be honest, I'm happy with any low energy bulbs as long as they do not give off that horrible yellow fluorescent light that regular energy savers give off. I hate flourescent tubes so don't want smaller versions.
The bulbs are for lamps and ceiling lights.0 -

Energy saving fluorescent bulbs come in all different colour ranges, it depends on the phosphors the tubes are coated with.
The brightest ones that I've found with crisp warm-white light are made by megaman. Their light and colour is very good, so I don't think you'd be disappointed by them. They're not yellow.0 -

Thanks, can these be bought online?0 -

Yes, in fact they're more widely available online than in shops I find.
It's worth checking out bulbs that are subsidised by energy companies. They have to invest in energy efficiency under some new directive, and many are selling bulbs, either directly or through other retailers at subsidised prices. I think E.ON subsidise megaman bulbs which are sold by other retailers. You don't have to be a customer with them to buy them at the lower price. You can get some styles of megaman bulbs for about £1 each.0 -
