Beta....no idea how do i find out?
Yes im on Broadband
Use AVG virus thing
Windows update - yup
spyware - nope dont use. Got a great free one tho?0 -
microsofts own is free
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
easy to install and auto protection....just say yes to everything and tick all the boxes and it will do everything for you
as you have no firewall I would also recommend
http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
or
http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html
both free and a MUST if you have broadband, at first they will ask you questions about allowing access to thins (like Internet Explorer) but just allow them and tick the box that says always allow...if you are not sure about something that is trying to access the internet then use google to seach for the .exe file name and see what it is :0Ex forum ambassador

Sorry for butting in but
With AVG do you scan in safe mode, i.e tap F8(usually) on PC start up.
And if running Adaware (if you got it) do you turn off system restore.
right click my computer, properties, turn off system restore, run a scan
then turn back on system restore.
Just a thought guys.0 -

Maybe, but if not it wont harm running a few scans as such.0 -
Not done the AVG scan in safe mode. What difference is there in running "live" if you will and in Safe mode?
Don't have Adaware, so is that free or a decent free one you can point me too?
Sorry for the stupid questions..0 -
