    1) are you on broadband ??
    2)do you have Anti-virus Software ??
    3) have you ever done Windows Updates (click on the "Start" button on the bottom left of the screen, then "all Programs" and Windows update is almost right at the top of the llist )
    4) do you have anti spyware software

    microsofts own is free

    http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

easy to install and auto protection....just say yes to everything and tick all the boxes and it will do everything for you :)

as you have no firewall I would also recommend

    http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

    or

    http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html

both free and a MUST if you have broadband, at first they will ask you questions about allowing access to thins (like Internet Explorer) but just allow them and tick the box that says always allow...if you are not sure about something that is trying to access the internet then use google to seach for the .exe file name and see what it is :0

    Sorry for butting in but

With AVG do you scan in safe mode, i.e tap F8(usually) on PC start up.

And if running Adaware (if you got it) do you turn off system restore.
right click my computer, properties, turn off system restore, run a scan
then turn back on system restore.

    Just a thought guys.

Maybe, but if not it wont harm running a few scans as such.
  • Not done the AVG scan in safe mode. What difference is there in running "live" if you will and in Safe mode?

Don't have Adaware, so is that free or a decent free one you can point me too?

    Sorry for the stupid questions..
  • Just tried to install Kerio and the following error appeared.

"1607:Unable to Install Installshield Scripting Runtime."

    Huh???
