in Credit cards
It looks as if the Petrol Stations Scam, PIN Pads doctored to capture card details and PINs maybe migrating.
If you've shopped at Morrisons, Wood Lane, Dagenham - CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS.
"Morrisons admits it knows of the problem, but has not commented on how the card security of customers may have been compromised, or on the number of people affected."

How can staff get away with this with CCTV etc?
Whats the best thing to do with things like this , if anyone has used a store which then finds out its being doing fraud....cancel all your cards?
Makes me parnoid about using my card in any shops now after reading that artical ......i try not to use my card in petrol stations or take aways but it now seems we have to keep a look out for supermarkets also.
I thought chip and pin was safe , obviously not0 -
Dealmad how many times has your cards been compromised?0

None that i know , but its stories like this which get me worried about using my card anywhere.
I guess nobody knows if there card compromised till all there money has gone from there banks.
These scum bags will target anyone and i just cant see how a store like Morrisons could let it happen they should be answerable to its customers...seeing as they put there customers as risk to card fraud.
I did have my card used once for £10 , not a big amount but still if i didnt of noticed it im sure my card would of been used more , but i check my accounts daily if i can....believe this was cloned in a indian takeway but luckly spotted it quickly.
Hence the reason i dont use it in takeaways now , but i do use my cards in supermakets but reading the above i no longer will0 -
So how do you pay for things? Do you withdraw cash from cashpoint machines - the reason I ask is that these are more likely to be fiddled with than a shop or garage.0

is that true?...cos i'd imagine that a staff member in a small outlet would look less suspicious fiddling with a machine than someone loitering around a cashpoint. or is that not how it's done?...excuse my ignorance here but i really havn't read up how the machines are actually tampered with.0 -
This is one reason contact-less cards should be the next step, along with a pin number. With encrypted contact-less technology it would not be possible to compromise the card, only the pin number at worst case.
I know this is something visa do but only for transactions under £10, which then do not require a pin number. Anything that avoids handing over your card or placing it in a reader that could be compromised is certainly a step in the right direction!0 -

An engineer will turn up, say to the petrol clerk that they're here to fix or service the PIN pads. Employee doesn't question it and allow the man to do so. Engineer gets employee to sign a fake chit and walks off.
Or dodgy employee does the work himself or allows an accomplice in to do so.The man without a signature.0 -
I would never use a card in a petrol station. It is your greatest chance of being a victim of fraud.

crikey!...so it's always visual.
well dealmad has a point about the cctv then.0 -
These things happen, sadly; you're never going to be 100% safe from fraud and crime no matter what anyone does at any time at any level. If you carry cash it could get nicked; if you use cheques they could get intercepted and altered; if you use cards they could get cloned (whether in ATMs or in shops). There's a risk to everything; there's no point swearing off using debit cards entirely because you've heard about some fraud, because cloned debit cards aren't the only way you'll lose your money to fraudsters!
The Morrisons employees responsible should be, and probably will be, hung by the b*llocks from the nearest tree, however.0
