Short Break in December - Where?

Hi,
I'd like to take my wife somewhere in December for our 10th Wedding Anniversary...
I was think of taking 4/5 days e.g. Thursday to Sun i.e. near xmas but I have no idea where to go & I want it to be a surprise.
My budget is around £800 for flights / hotel. We are travelling Europe this summer (france, italy, netherlands, belguim), so I'm trying to think slightly out of the box. For info, she has very expensive taste!
I've been thinking copenhagen or iceland, but any suggestions would be appreciated, it doesn't have to be somewhere warm. Are there any hidden gems that I'm missing?
Thanks,

I'd like a short break in December also, so would be interesting in hearing some unsual suggestions. Its hard to think of somewhere that the weather is not going to be awful and somewhere thats not to far away as its only a short break.0

not sure of costings, but how about you check out New York? at least the dollar rate is good for while there.
subject to the price, i don't anything wrong about a short trip to the east coast USA. last year i did LA for 4 nights only to watch my fave band. 11 hours each way but worth it and i'd do it again.Blonde jokes are one-liners so men can remember them...;)0 -
If you're going in December, there's plenty of atmosphere and activity throughout central and Eastern Europe with Christmas markets. It'll be different from your summer trip!
Otherwise short breaks are good to places like Malta, Tunis, Cairo, Istanbul.I am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are S0466/3973. Exchange rate should still be good by thebn, so you can get some cheap christmas presents at the same time!
