The above post was a joke - please don't upgrade to Windows ME!

Windows 2000 is a very stable old operating system if you're not ready for XP. (Although I recommend Ubuntu myself - it's free nice and runs on just about anything!)

:j Just to say a big thank you to everyone who was kind enough to take the time and effort to help me with my query. I have now got my all-in-one printer working - hurray!

I managed to find the usbscansys file with the help of mdbarber. I tried to copy and paste as suggested by bat999 and mdbarber but was unable to, then tried extracting the file from the CD as mentioned by quietishone, which worked.

I've ticked the 'thank you button' after each message (including bazzlad's joke) but as a newbie am not sure of the etiquette and have included this message.

I hope to be of help to other 'posters' in the future.

I'm trying to install an Epson DX8450 all-in-one printer but got the following error message:

The file 'usbscan.sys' on Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM cannot be found.
Insert Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM in the drive and click OK

    Error Details:

The following error occurred. 'The file was not found' (Error #2)
Set up could not finish opening a file on the source disk

    Source file: 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\net\WIN98SE\usbscansys'

    Destination file: 'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\usbscansys=DRIVER20.CAB'

I'm not very computer literate and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am a 'newbie' to this site, so apologise if I make any mistakes. I also have limited internet access, so may be slow in replying.

    Thank you
