Is the internet on Mobile phone necessary???

Can anyone tell me the adventages of having internet on mobile phone. When do you use it??? I have nothing against it but I just want to know your opinion.

For me I dont really use it. I dont know when I should use it. I am spending most of the time everyday at work and at home. When I am at work I can play high speed internet at work. When I am at home I can play high speed internet at home on computer which is much better and faster than using on phone. When I go shopping I dont need to play internet. When I go travelling I dont need to play internet (only a few times. just to read news or something like that.)

So let me know the advantages of it please.

I do a lot of work out of the office.. having the internet on my phone is great, when i'm a) waiting around for people to turn up
    b) people can email me from the office, and i get my emails... saves me getting loads of phone calls, and can't take message and forgetting things..
    c) pub quiz!

    hope that helps

Not everyone has the internet at home or at work - so to use your mobile to check random little things helps them a lot!

Plus if you look engrossed in something on your mobile when on public transport that weird smelly person might not talk/sit next to you ;)

...Google maps, tube map, saynoto0870, VOIP & Skype, tube delays (on tfl website), remote control of server at home for downloads, ebay, mobile banking, checking status of virgin media internet when it stops working, Tesco pricecheck

Mrs Harper observed me the other day and said "you couldn't do without it could you?" (talking, of course, about me surfing on my phone :D)

"remote control of server at home" - blimey Sid that sounds a mighty bit fancier than just the usual 'checking hotmail or facebook' :D

Hee hee. Yes maybe it's a bit geeky but really handy to kick off a download. Shame they haven't brought MSN remote record to the UK as well, cos that in the US lets you schedule TV recordings on media center PCs when you're at the pub and realise that "just the 1" was measured in gallons and not pints!
