They have got sneaky, they announce dodgy ideas at the budget but don’t implement them for a year or two.

The press concentrate on the immediate stuff so 5p on fags gets covered but car tax doubling in two years gets largely ignored.

On the bright side both our cars are old enough to escape so not only did some other mug pay the initial eye watering depreciation (my S4 cost £40k new, I got it for £7.5k when it was 5 years old) but they might even go up in value once the new tax kicks in.
