I never go in my local netto cos they never have enough staff and it takes ages to get through the checkouts, also the shop is a mess, stuff all over, looks like its just been thrown down.
    Aldi rocks though!

:rotfl: same as the netto I go to, more like a jumble sale than a supermarket,
I have picked up some bargains though. But does take ages to get through the cashout.

I don't find them any better or worse than Lidl/Aldi from a checkout queueing perspective.

They're good for branded bargains...watch out in particular for wine - they have good quality stuff at knock-down prices, but it doesn't last long.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

I buy Horlicks from there as it seems cheapest . Also one of our lecturers used to shop there when i was at work so it can't be all the lowwer classes

    I love Netto!
(in fact when I go to big supermarkets now I grudge spending the extra money, & have been known to mutter ' I'm not paying that much for that')
however, I do find that I can't get everything I need in there so I do main shop there and then go to Sainsbury on way home for odd bits.
Don't go if you are in a rush as there is nearly always a queue at checkout!

I have to say I am not bothered by paying for carrier bags as I take my granny style trolly with me! Its bright blue and bought from Ikea!

Tesco took their store away, to improve it (e.g. knock it down, take half the primary schools field cut down 30 or so lovely old trees, leave us with a poxy metro store 3/4 mile further down the road and build a 24 hour extra store) I am pleased really, but surely they did not need to close down my store 18 months before they opened the new one, they have left us with a metro one, but that is worse for choice than netto, thank goodness for netto, it only opened a few months ago

love their bread 35 p for a loaf, and it tastes better than tesco's cheapest
great for staples bean, chopped toms, juice, the felix is a pound cheaper than everywhere, I buy it for the "stray" that has adopted us.

My advice is try something once, no harm in that, if its not your cup of tea...

i was a great netto fan but since "discovering" asdas value range i have stopped going as it is more expensive on the basics.

Well done for adopting the stray.

Cats IMHO repay the investment you make in them 100 times over.
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

The older stores can be messy, but the newer ones are on a par with Lidl/Aldi

The thing no one seems to have mentioned, is that the food is local (UK) and a lot is from well know UK brands as opposed to the mostly Continental fare at Lidl and Aldi

  • I like them all. I do agree, some days you have long waits and other times not- it applies to all of them. I have found Netto very cheap for salad veg. I always check the wine offers and I've signed up for all newsletters. Please also note that Aldi usually give 3 year guarantees on their electrical products- i've noticed some 3 yr guarantees creeping in at Netto and LIdl - bit do check.

My sons computer and our telly is from Aldi. Couldn't have bought the same spec for the same price and that's without the extra caost of a long guarantee (which you have by rights anyway!- another story). My sons computer didn't set up properly and they sent a technician to the house on the las working day b4 christmas and got it up a running with a pert ordered that was fitted inbetween christmas and new year- great service I say. Only problem- they usualy only get about 6/8 of big savings items in each store so you have to get there early. xx
