I'm very lucky to have netto, lidl and aldi quite close to where I live (as well as Asda, tesco and Sainsburys and a Morrison's in the city centre).
I'd also check their website and sign up to recieve their newletter which will tell you of the various bargains... if I have time, I'll visit each store (it's a fair walk but just for comparison of products available it kills a couple of hours... I can't buy everything I need from Netto, Lidl or Aldi but the fruit and veg is good (look out for special offers and if you've room in the freezer buy, chop and freeze things).
Good luck.

Hi Daisychain,
There are a number of threads on the Shop but don't drop board about netto which should help so I'll move your thread over there.
These recent ones link link to Martin's article, What's hot and what's not at Aldi/Lidl/Netto
What's hot and what's not at Aldi/Lidl/Netto Article Discussion Area
Great What/What Not to Buy at Lidl, Aldi and Netto Hunt
And this one is specific to Netto:
Netto. What to buy.
If you search on the shop but don't drop board there are more threads but too many to list here I'm afraid.

Not nice Pigpen. Am one of those "scrotes" you make fun of because cant afford to shop anywhere else.
Netto is perfect for deals on fruit and veg. There are occasional good offers on branded goods and it is ideal for soap, washing up stuff and cleaning generally. (although home and bargain are hard to beat).
Their meat is reasonable and well priced and the tinned stuff is fine for most people.
Am less keen on their frozen ranges of veg but its cheaper to buy fresh so why moan about that?
Personally never buy pies, cheeses, fatty spreads, or alcohol so cant comment on these.
Please remember we cant all buy expensive things - some of us HAVE to exist on very tight budgets and this site is about helping everyone; "scrotes" or not.Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?

thank you all so much i have also spoke to a few of my friends today and they rave about it and say the branded items are much cheaper aswell but they did say they were embarrased if they see anybody they knew in there???? i was a bit baffled 1st-there obviously shopping there too so i gladly and nicely told her to get off her high horse as i think "bargin hunting" happens to be a good and savvy thing to do....she laughed, i dont no why as i was serious..debate settled im def off tomorrow thanks again all.xxDFW AND OS'ER IN TRAINING!!:D

Your wisest move daisychain.
I'm well past caring where people see me shop. Aldi used to have a similar stigma some years ago, but people very quickly realised that you could simply save a good deal of money v the 'traditional' supermarkets.
We've been using Netto for about 6 months now and I've saved a small fortune. They have lots of branded items now and nearly all are cheaper than the traditionals, the meat prices are very good too - in fact they often put Tesco to shame - and if you take the plunge and try the odd unbranded version of an item I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Washing machine conditioner at 33p for 2L for instance... not a lot to gamble on. In fact it's fine, so is amazingly cheap.
I tend to try and stock up on the best deals, buying as many as I can afford that week (so long as there's no date issues) like the Pepsi (or Max) 12 can packs for £1.99 or new Weetabix Gold 24's at £1
I don't know if the second post was more tongue in cheek, but I have never seen anything happen at my local Netto other than people buying their shopping - and leaving with more money in their bank accounts than they would have elsewhere.
Good luck!0 -
I personally couldn't care less ... I have been known to go to nettos, lidl and aldi all in one day
The other half has no problems with me doing this and my inlaws refuse to shop in places like asda and the bigger chains of supermarkets ... they only shop in aldi and nettosRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Sign up for the newsletter - they do have some great offers but just be careful you can't get some of the branded goods elswhere. However, if you are able to walk to netto rather than travelling to a supermarket then you are already saving so balance it!
I had to do a buffet for an event last year and I had no budget. I went to Netto and got all of the cheapest of cheap stuff and I have to say, nobody batted an eyelid.0 -
I went to Netto yesterday for the first time. My mum and dad bought 2 pressure washers from there a while ago.Theres didnt work (hense the visit yesterday) But mine was fine

I would of spent alot more but had only taken £20 with me
