Updating my Terms and Conditions

I am one of those people who remembers everything when I am telling other people, but always forget when I want something! (I also really truly have been there and done it! )

Bearing that in mind, I am updating my terms and conditions on my ME page, and need some advice as to what I should include to protect myself as much as possible - whilst also keeping them short and sweet and not putting people off.

I have so far...

Many thanks for looking at my Auctions! I would
like to keep things as smooth as possible for all
buyers, hence these short terms and condtions of
Sale.

Payment can be by cheque, bank transfer, postal
order or Paypal. I will accept cash, but it is
your responsibility to get it to me safely and
complete!

PAYPAL is accepted for almost everything.
I will also not accept PAYPAL for any person who's address is unverified.

I am only able to post to the Ebay/Paypal
registered address.

Items will be despatched only after payment has
cleared.

Feedback is always left, but only after the
end of the transaction. Please let me know if you
are happy with the service (or otherwise!) once
you recieve the items.

I always obtain proof of posting and should any
item go missing, I will always make a claim on
your behalf.

I do not charge extra for PayPal. This is not
permitted by Ebay.

What do you think??

Yes, looks good. You seem to have touched on this, but you might want to think about adding something along the lines of you are committed to resolving problems with buyers and ask that they contact you with any problems before leaving (negative) feedback.

Many thanks for browsing my auctions!

My philosophy is to keep things as simple as possible for all buyers, with just a few basic Terms and conditions.

Acceptable methods of payment are by cheque (goods shipped on clearance), bank transfer, direct payment into my bank account, crossed Postal Orders made payable to myself or Paypal (Verified accounts only).

I will accept cash payment, however please note that the buyer takes full responsibility for ensuring its safe arrival.

Goods purchased via Paypal will ONLY be shipped to the registered address.

Postage, Packing, Insurance (if applicable) and shipping method is always clearly listed.

Goods will be packaged securely and despatched upon clearance of funds.

For low value goods less than £30 in value, a Certificate of posting is always obtained.

I always pride myself on providing a fast and friendly service and hope that any issues that may arise can be resolved simply and quickly with the minimum of fuss.

Feedback is always left upon receipt of feedback from buyers, thus confirming the goods have arrived safely and the buyer is 100% satisfied.

    ..................................................................................................

First Draft..... Note to all..... Never ask me to proof read, pass opinion on or edit ANYTHING :p
    The MSE Dictionary
Loophole - A word used to entice people to read clearly written Terms and Conditions.
Rip Off - Clearly written Terms and Conditions.
Terms and Conditions - Otherwise known as a loophole or a rip off.

    HI

I also have this in mine.

Postage & Packaging: The buyer to pay Postage and Packing. I always get a Certificate of Posting which covers Against Loss of upto £ 30 for a UK address..

I am happy to combine winning items to save on postage charges.
I try to recycle packaging where ever possible and i only ever charge for materials i have to buy

I can't see the point in anything over and above how to pay.

Most people won't read it, and even if they do they will ignore it and you will just get into arguments.

I think that's why i didn't bother with a ME page, I never read anyone elses so why should I assume they will read mine. I did read a couple of ME pages via a google site where people had posted them to make fun of them, they were just basically going on either about how they only get their neg because a buyer was out to get them, or how much they hate paypal or the post office or something, it just made the seller look a little flaky.

If you need terms and conditions on an auction then they need to be on the auction listing, not the ME page anyway.

Note that any t&c on your me page are not legally binding.

To be legally binding, they must be stated on the auction page.

And they are only legally binding if they don't try and remove the buyers statutory rights. For example, trying to shift the liability for loss or damage whilst in the hands of the Royal Mail from the seller to the buyer.

Likewise they also mustn't be against ebay terms and conditions, I saw a good one the other day, it said 'if this auction finishes at less than £40 I retain the right to refuse to sell it and will inform ebay if you attempt to pay or hassle me about this in any way'.
