If I turn my phone off when I turn it back on, I have to reset the date and time etc. It does not keep it in memory, I have taken the battery out and put it back in and its just the same. Anybody any ideas?

sounds like one of two things:

Firmware issue (new software may rectify - should be able to d/l for free via nokia website - make sure you back-up all files from handset first)
Internal battery issue (there is a small internal battery usually, which is used for storing certain info when you remove the battery / battery dies etc.)

Otherwise, a factory reset of the handset may work?
Could be an issue with the battery itself perhaps (ie, when handset is switched off, battery stops providing charge to the phone at all)

I'd try 1&2 first. can always ask nokia if phone is still under warranty.
