Remember, what ever it is, it's going to go straight in to his mouth. So don't put anything in there that you don't want him to eat!

I will check out RNIB....like you say whatever the contents are for impaired children it would still benefit any baby. Totally agree. Have been looking on Ebay and the baskets range from £9.99 - £14.99 + post and packaging.....a little steep I think.

    Thanks again.

Thanks so much to the OP for posting this. I hadnt heard of them before but I have been busy gathering things for my babys sensory box.

    So far I have:-

    - Fly splatter thing (long with plastic meshing on)
    - Sponge
    - Citrus squeezer (wooden)
    - Wooden peg
    - Plastic ruler
    - Pan scourer
    - Nail scrubbing brush
    - Little avent cup with lid on and rice in it
    - Hamster ball full of pasta (this is fab, green and 1/2 price in Wilkinsons so only £1.29 - obviously without the pasta!)

I am planning to keep adding to it. It is a bit daunting giving baby things that don't have labels on saying it is fine for a certain age (I think we have all got so used to toys being 'safe for a certain age' these days) so I will supervise him very closely.

I can't wait for playtime tomorrow to see how he enjoys it.

    Thanks again to the OP!

Wow, what a wonderful idea - I shall just have to downscale the contents to smaller Andrew-sized items!

Morning All  Hearing test this afternoon, so fingers crossed please!

We made a sensory box for DS2 when he was younger. His OT gave us ideas to include something soft (facecloth) hard (wooden peg) smooth (plastic baby spoon) rough (plastic scourer).

I ended up walking about shops with my eyes closed touching things, if it was interesting (and safe) he ended up with it. When they get older you can start doing cooked pasta, raw pasta, shaving foam (this freaked DS2 out, he is still squeamish about foam and is terrified of jelly, odd child) what does rice sound like if you throw it into a pot. Great fun and much quieter than the bloomin V Tech animal parade bus and its tinny American shouty voice, One! Two! Cat! *shudder*.
