lol, both my nan & mom have said that to me when I was younger.
I'm 28, OH is 26, & we have 2children aged 9 & 1.
Was brought up sewing and crafting and could cook the basics. I come on here for new recipes, ideas & tips, I also google a lot for new recipes. Very proud of myself as I made mayonnaise from scratch yesterday for the first time :T Now I get to pass tips back to my mom, as well as friends & other family members with enthusiasm & pride :jYou cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
Hi Im mrs fertyskids 34 and Hubby Mr Fertyskids 34 as well. we have 3 kids, 14, 3 and 1 and i would love a couple more.... only now we can afford them due to os!!!
Ive been on here since the summer... baby now in washables, sold one car and hubby cycles 60 miles a week now. food shopping just under halved. home cooking. using hand me downs for the kids, and freecycle. but also not feeling guilty about having treats with some of the money ive saved as i feel this is better use of it. recently REDUCED gas direct debit. wearing warmer clothes... slightly lower temperature in the house.
im a sahm, gave up work in june, used to earn a good salary and would waste huge amounts of money and was VERY VERY unhappy.
Hubby has been under the threat of redundancy for 5yrs and we have come very close a couple of times. there would not be any other work in his field locally, so he will probably have to take a huge loss in pay or work away. working away is not an option the kids and i would miss him too much so we are preparing for the income losses.
i want to learn how to sew and knit as at the mo, i throw clothes instead of repairing and its a waste...wanted to learn how to cook a more varied menu, maybe even grow some veg as well.
i was a career girl, felt very proud of my achievements and my proffession now i feel proud that the mortgage will be paid soon and there is less pressure on hubby to get another well paid jjob. we can live on a lot less now. fells great.
thanks fertyskids0 -
49 with the dreaded 50 looming in March:eek:
Seriously though, age doesn't really bother me at all. I have definately become much more OS in the past couple of years after getting into a muddle financially and we are now coming out the other side where we are able to save now. All totally impossible without this wonderful site.
OH is still a nightmare will leaving every light in the house on and all the doors open wide but at least I have now got energy saving bulbs everywhere and have convinced him that he really doesn't have to wander around dressed in nothing but a large bath sheet. Hw now realises that wearing a sweatshirt indoors doesn't mean he is dressed for the arctic and that the CH needs to be on at 25 degrees from October till May:eek:
I sneakily turn the heating down a few degrees and when he says he feels cold I just look shocked and tell him how warm I am. I dont bother to mention though that the majority of times its raging hot flushes which I am plagued with :rotfl:0 -
I'm 48 although I feel about 90, and Mr LW will be 59 in just over a week. We have no kids. Mr LW was a contractor in I.T until a few years ago when the government introduced IR35 (don't ask!!) but now he is in a permanent post, or as permanent as any these days; and I'm retired due to ill health. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

I'm 28, OH is 40 (we share the same birthday, just 12 years apart!
), and we have two children, DD 9 and DS 10.
We also have a (almost) 2 year old chocolate lab, 9 chickens (6 of who are ex-batts), 2 goats (although one is technically my parents'), and a pony (who my DD 'shares' with my dad, her grandad).
We live with my parents (bought a big house and split into 2 semis) and it's worked out fab!
Only found this forum a few months ago, but OS is my fave (along with special occasions) xxxx
