booked a collection for today between 9am to 5pm. I sat in the living room all day waiting for the DHL driver. At 3.05pm, i went to get a cup of tea.
came back at 3.12pm, and i say an 'attempted collections card' at my door.  the driver did not ring the doorbell nor did he call me. And the best part of it was that he wrote that the attempted collection time was 3.30pm!!!     the cheek of that bugg*r.
i called DHL back asap 3.13pm and the lady who answered the phone called the driver to see if he can come and pick the package up again. 4 minutes later, she told me that the driver is out of the town and it will take him too long to come back and get the parcel. (assuming the driver came at 3.05pm, it took him 7 minutes to drive out of town, but it will take him 'too long' to come back and get it?)
was told to rebook for collection another day.....but i am leaving the town tonight.... so after much discussion, the driver apaprently agrred that he will collect it 'tonight'...hence delaying my travel plans. The call centre lady at DHL insisted that the driver rang the doorbell (i know this si an outright lie) and pointed out that if the driver was not there, he wouldnt have been able to leave the 'attempted collection' card.
i pointed out that:
1). i sat in the living room for 6 bloody hours waiting for the driver to come,..if he was indeed there and rang the doorbell, i wouldnt deliberately ignore the doorbell..
2) the driver could have called me - to which she said they have the wrong number for me ??

3) it was written in the card that he attempted to collect at 3.30, and it was only 3.13pm when i called the DHL call centre up - lady said that his watch may be a few minutes early. i cannot believe anyone will set their watch 18 minutes early...?? and i can only conclude that he is a lying bugg*r.
I insisted for a recollection tonight, which means i will miss my train and be delayed for HOURS.
this ALWAYS happen with DHL, be it for collection or delivery.
either that or they leave parcels in gardens/with neighbours, and the 'delivered' parcel is nowhere to be seen.
i dotn normally get so worked up, but taking into accoutn that i need to catch a train, previous experience with DHL, and the driver's blantant lies,...i am fuming. i would have smacked the driver if he told me these lies face to face.
i will avoid DHL where possible from now on...

I dont know what makes u think my hearing is crap, but if you read (assuming you can read) my post;
1. i wrote that the driver DID NOT ring the doorbell, but merely lied that hedid. There were 2 other people in the house at that time, so are you saying that all four person who were in at that time have got hearing problems?
2. the driver did not call me...
why should everyone else be put out their way
- who is 'everyone else'? the driver who is probably in a hurry to go out with his mates? or his mates who are waiting for him?
Lastly, why do you even bother to reply if you cant read?0 -

You get given a contract, read it
Dont ignore it then cry when the terms dont suit you
Its funny how people tend to know their gets outs, but not the related fees
You owe this money under a legally binding contract, pay up
its also ironic that you post this on another thread, hitting out at people who dont read contacts properly before signing them.
maybe you should read posts properly before attempting to post your 2 cents worth (which in my case is not even worth 2 cents).0 -

No the OP conjected to suit their view which is different
Why would the delivery company actually go to the house but not collect the parcel? theres no reason for it, if they hadnt put a card through fair enough i would believe they were lying but it seems to me the OP simply didnt hear the door
As for the phone call, why do they have a wrong number?
It seems to me the OP ballsed up and is now slandering the driver to try and blackmail them into meeting their agenda0 -
I dispise DHL.
I have had so many problems with them, now I avoid them. We have nicknamed them DHell in our household.0 -
I agree that DHL can be a bit funny at times
the worst thing is trying to call em back to rearrange another delivery on the 0870 number.
It takes ages, cut you off sometimes and of course someone is making money from it.
I have found the best was is to email them, with a complaint and they do ring me back within half a day usually.
From what I hear in some areas they are really hopless they are very quick at tapping gently at the door n then walking away before you have a chance to get to the door.
we avoid firms that use them if we can
Gnever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

The DHL guy that comes to my house it top notch :j
Seems strange they would go to all the effort of going to your front door and not collecting the parcel why would he waste his time doing this0 -

Maybe he did not have any other collections on his van and so would not have to return to the depot and could just go home BUT by collecting the op's parcel would mean a return to the depot.
Dunno if this is what happen's, just guessing.0 -
Just an update: the driver did come back for the package at 4.50pm yesterday,..so not too bad...as i didnt have to wait too long.0
