TomTom One v2 here as well bought it because we moved and i hadnt long passed my test i didnt know the city at all well and i knew i had to take my partner to work placements. I found it easy to use and reliable just make sure you update your map with the 30 day garantee when you buy it.
My dad thought it was a waste of money until i let him borrow it to go to my brothers 150 miles away by the time they came back he really got why i found it so useful. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
I use TomTom and love it!
I also have a Garmin Nuvi 200 and that seems almost as easy to use.
Incidentally - the Garmin has UK maps - but it worked fine in Brittany!
It appears to have detailed maps all along the north of France and main roads in the rest of Europe.0 -

and use a Garmin Nuvi 200. It has very clear pictures and is simple to operate, without all the complex additional stuff (like MP3 players!) You can take it out of the box, stick it on the dashboard and go in 5 mins.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Thanks everyone for replies and apologies for delays in thanking you all. The Garmin satnavs sound good, will look into those. Want simplest one possible...

I use a "TomTom ONE V2" whatever that means. It works well, apart from its occasional attempts to make me drive up a 3 foot wide bridle path or through a padlocked gate! It also suggested that I turn right off a main road in Huddersfield and go the wrong way down a one-way street. Luckily, I spotted the No Entry sign before I indicated!
I found this slight issue as well, but ths was pretty muich solved when I upgraded to the V3. It lets you make small changes on the fly, so you can tell it that the steet it's trying to send you down is one-way, and you can close blocked streets either temporarily or permanently.
OP, I'm gonna give another vote for Tomtom, it's really easy to use and as I've already said, the new ones come with some great features (Also very easy to use). The new mapshare and "latest map guarantee" also make it winner as far as I'm concerned. The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Thanks for this thread. How did you get on with the Navman - has it arrived. I want to get a satnav for Mum - in her 60's just for UK use. I want something ready to go, easy to use that does not required lots of updates. I was thinking of going TomTom but it seems an awful lot more. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
