Hi dazrs
I was told you have 24 hours to get rid of parcels, however some of the next parcels can be timed ie before 1pm etc.
But yes you can go out in the eve and sometimes you would have to anyway if no one is in during the day.

Hi to all, I took up dhl home-delivery job about a month ago. It's generally gone quite well.
99% of the deliveries have to be signed for. You are permitted to use a near neighbour, providing you get the signature. You are not paid for a re-delivery, so it's in your interest to find a neighbour happy to take it.
Late last week dhl phoned me with regard to a delivery I had made. The parcel was delivered to a number 18 (which is next door to the intended recipient). I obtained a signature as required. It has now turned out that the person at number 18 has denied they were in receipt of any parcel - dispite the signature and the fact that
they gave their correct surname to me. Unfortunately I couldn't remember anything particular about the signee. Today DHL asked me to return to number 18 to confirm whether I could confirm it was the person who had signed for the parcel.
They also asked me to inform the person that the police would have to be informed.
As it turned out, there was nobody at home when I went there today, It just seems to me, that it isn't really upto me to chase this up.
Anybody got any thoughts on this one?0 -
I do deliveries in my main job but car parts, all i can suggest in future you may already do is get them to sign and print there name as 90% of the time you cant read signitures, the only other option is to take picture of them but prob some kind of law. I also had probs when i leave at building when no ones about they can go missing there not alot you can do about that either, unless you take a pic where you left it. We had dome deliveries in past and some one gone and nicked the parcel form our door step.0

Just applied for Parcelnet and HDLN, will wait and see!
Picked up a leaflet for DHL express a few months ago and called them, very, very bored sounding girl read her speech from list very quickly, not interested in my questions, and really couldn't give a monkeys whether I dropped dead while on the phone, let alone whether it was suitable for me!0 -

I have to use a handheld pda which is linked to the DHL office. You tap the signees name in and then they sign on the device itself. So DHL have the name, signature and house number of the person. I think it should be upto them to chase this up.0 -
Got email back from HDLN and Parcelnet both daying "if something's in your area we'll get in touch".
May nip down to local DHL drop-off point to see if they've still got leaflets for the DHL "lifestyle" (or summat like that) Express parcel service.0 -
Just thought I would let you have an update (as so many seem to be interested in doing this)
Just finished second Sat on this and it went well this week, had about 63 parcels this week, but quite a few Next (you get 85p for these) and also a lot of addresses had more than one parcel.
The only thing about this job I dont like (and please dont think I am a snob) is that you do get some rather lovely areas !!!!! (I do get some nice ones aswell) but did cross my mind today whilst driving around with a car full of stock, what if someone tried to rob me. But saying that works out about £9 an hour so cant be choosy.
Let me know if I can help anymore0
