This area has sold signs going up - but then within a few weeks they are for sale again. Sometimes a new property comes on and I can easily say to DH that it will sell because of the area + price, but even some of those have returned as for sale.

DH has told me to stop being so obsessed and clean the house/do the ironing/visit friends, generally get a life :D

ive become a serial house hunter. i actually described it as a new hobby yesterday so i share your concerns haha :D it does interest me though!!

Ive just seen an amazing house needs completely modernising at £125k. Its fantastic, similar houses would sell at the moment for £170k (if done up) but its cash offers only, else we would have snapped it up :( why do they do that??? what is so good about a cash offer for a vendor??

No mortgage offers to worry about I guess, makes the whole process quicker and simpler. I could be wrong though.

Not much happening in our area, we are about to put our house up for sale as we have bought and done up one to move into by the sea for our retirement.Had 2 EA's around,we are putting it up 10K lower than the highest priced comparable in our postcode. So we shall see..... we are not desperate to sell, and can let it drop a fair way before we "lose" any money.
I'll keep posting updates, assuming something actually happens that is!;)

Regardless of that make an offer of what you think the place is worth and how much you will be happy spending.

I have to agree with the comments above

I have also seen loads of sold signs going up around my area. Very surprised!

Yeah same here it seems people are still buying 'homes'....

I live in York and there's been a slight increase in prices this year. Some area's have risen higher while some have showed a slight fall. I know the national media quote UK as a whole but it's very variable up and down the country based on many deciding factors.

I don't think they'd go for £50'000 really do you :D:o:rotfl:no house of that size is worth £160k ...but in reality it is a relatively good price. I'd pay 150k i think.... argh decisions decisions

york is by far the most volatile of any area I'm tracking

it has more reductions percentage wise than any other area, it also has a property market which has grown by almost 25% in the past 3 months.

check out my property bee threads, for actual info on what's really happening in the entire york market

I'm seeing consistently between 80-100 properties reduced in price every week in york
    It's a health benefit ...

I do believe the EA (! i know i know!) as she knew I wouldn't be able to offer £160k, so we are definitely out of the running as I'd only offer £150k max!

m00m00 - 6 months ago it would have sold for £160k-£165k

    !

so if 6 months ago it would have sold for £160k, why would it now ? in 6 months prices have already fallen by over 5%, we have mortgage rationing and low confidence.

as someone said earlier, theres one born every minute
