Looking at a Nokia 6230i on O2. 250 + 100 texts (double for first three months). Cash back is £240 and line rental £35 per month.

Just need someone to tell me my maths is right and this is the way to work it all out, cos no-one is here at home atm!

I'll pay £35 per month for 12 months = £420
Less cashback of £240 (pd in instalments)
= £180
divide by 12 = £ 15 per month actual amount

Is this the right way to do it?
Also has anyone bought from this company?
Am thinking about going through quidco for points as well

Thanks for your help! :):)

  • Hi Lara, yes i bought the nok 6230i on bt mobile, i pay £10 a month by redemption,i went by the recommendations on here. Mobileshop are a good company. Register via quidco, yes, you will get your money but they take months to pay up... Re the maths yes it is tricky ,but it does add up!

<hijack> @jon_r - jon, have you noticed the menus to be slow with the 6230i? moving between screens, like the main screen and flicking left on the d pad to start a text etc? i had a play with one recently and it was noticeably bad. just wondering if it was that phone or generally - it was just a standard unit in every way, no extra memory. ta. sorry for the OT</hijack>

I am currently reading a review of the 6230i and it does mention that menus are slower than the non-i model, but it does say they are still fast, review on https://www.gsmarena.com if you are interested.

Yeah I found that the menus were noticeably "slower" than the 6230 that it replaced. This is due to the fact that the processor in the 6230i is the same as the 6230, yet it has to handle more graphically intensive menus, so it struggles a little.

It isn't too bad once you get used to it, but it was one of the (small) reasons I sold mine.

Is quidco better than greasypalm or any of the others to go through? They do seem to be paying the most money......................?

They pay at least double what everyone else pays, as everyone else takes a minimum of 50%, whereas quidco only take £5 per year from your earnings, earn over £10 per year and you are winning.

They don't have a referral scheme, so if someone advises you to them it is not because they profit from you joining ;)

that's fine !....no i hadn't noticed, my work colleague has the 6230,he was impressed with mine, which appeared to be quicker, on direct comparison, perhaps the problem you highlighted had been ironed out. i did own a nok 5210 ( rubber case phone)so although a good phone the 6230i was a treat, i recently took some pics, had them developed on 6 by 4, they seemed very good indeed
