different address with my Bank compared to Electoral register???

Hey all,
Can any one help answer this for me….?

My question is this:
Will having a different address with my Bank account compared to the
Electoral register hurt credit rating?

Back story:
I am from Sheffield and now Living in London. Because I could change
address a few times while in London, I have all my mail sent to Sheffield
and have my parents forward it to me. I also use this address (Sheffield)
for all my Bank accounts, so if I move in London I do not have to change
everything.

I was on the Sheffield Electoral register, but have not been for about 1
year. I have now signed up to the Camden Electoral register (this is where
I live currently). I did this to help improve my credit rating (as this
website advises). Would it be better to register with the Sheffield Electoral register, even while living in London?

Thanks
Scotty

Credit companies check the electoral register against the address you give as your current address, to check you live where you say you live. So you should be registered where you live, unless you're going to say you live in sheff. (which is fraud really, because you don't!). I'd get all your stuff addressed to your current address, it's a pain in the a**, but probably a good idea. I've moved 3 times in 2 years, but I've always got on the electoral register and made sure I've updated addresses.

cheers. but how bad of a fraud would it be? as i am planning on moving back to Sheffield. If i was in London from Sheffield for 1 month i would not be expected to change all my addresses right? So whats the cut off point (i.e ammount of time) after which you would be expected to change your address?
thanks for help so far, any more comments all welcome.

I doubt it will hurt those stupid number people pay a 5er for, but i would most definately decline the application, and i have experience in some other large credit/store card companies, and they are the same.

Sub-prime credit may ask for more information though.

I'm not sure about the legal ins and outs...but If you're planning on going back to Sheffield then maybe wait to apply for anything till you move there, and get back on the electoral register as soon as you can, before applying for anything new.

IMO, yes. This is a common situation and it's only sensible to keep everything at your parents' address, particularly as you expect to move back to Sheffield.

Once your electoral status in Sheffield shows on your credit files, your credit rating will improve no end ;)
