center parcs with 21 month old

we are going to center parcs next month with our 21 month old has anyone been with a child of this age. I have looked at some of the activitys for small children and they seem pretty pricy £7.50 for messy play which seems to be an hour and a half of playdough and painting, are they worth taking him too?

thanks misspenny

We've taken ours since they were born. I wouldn't bother with any activities excpet perhaps the kids club if you want soem time to yourselves, e.g. to visit the spa.

The pools always have an area for younger children with shallow water and mini slides so just spend plenty of time there.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I agree, unless you specifically want some 'adult time' i wouldn't bother paying for the overpriced activities.

Just enjoy cycling in the forest, swimming, picnics, adventure playgrounds etc.

Have to agree with the rest the activities are not that great as there made out to be we paid alot of money for the hand and feet printing, which happened to be a piece of paper which they painted there hands and made hand prints on the paper and they also put their feet on some normal clay you can buy at the shops and made feet inprints which you had to make your own boxes out of paper for, could of done it all at home cheaper.

We also did the teddy bears picnic, which i thought we would be going out for it but no we ended up in some small room all the children got a goodie bag that had in it a sandwich(v small) 1 bag of pombear crisps and an apple and a carton of small orange juice the 10p carton ones then for an the rest of the hour they sang songs but the kids weren't interested and most of them were just running around, so never again will i do the activities.

We did use the kids club once which they enjoyed but they much prefered either the pool or being pulled along in the trailer thing that goes on the back of your bike, which both my two youngest could sit together.

Which center parcs are you going to because the one at penrith(cumbria) has an outdoor pool up at the top of the swimming section which not alot of people realise which is quite nice and usually heated, its up near where the slides start.

My youngest was 13 months when we first went. I only book the older one into activities he can do without me. He went on a mini rangers once. Otherwise we spend the majority of time in the pool. I've also used the time out club, usually for eldst cos he loves stuff like that, but last time for both whilst I went to spa and dh tidied up.:p

We were at Penrith CP's last weekend and It was fab. We were there with friends and our 12 month old godson. We didn't bother with any of the activities but spent lots of time in the pool and just walking around.

we felt the activities were expensive - esp if there are several children and a parent is needed to go with them. At 21 months he shouldn't be 'begging' you to do x, y and z (as we saw some older children doing to their poor parents!!!)

upstairs in the sports plaza there is free soft play which was great fun too.

    Have a wonderful time x

Ours have been CP veterans since they were both about 18 months (now 11 & 14).
All 4 CPs have great facilities for younger ones. Free indoor and outdoor play areas, usually near the Sports areas (Jardin de Sports). They have designated outdoor play facilities for relevant age groups.
All pool areas are brilliant and when ours were this young we did spend the majority of the time in the Swimming plaza. There are 'free play' activities (for painting etc..) at some of the Parcs around early evening (around tea time).
    Restaurants have play areas too.
The best thing is the babysitting service provided by all the CP sites. Until recently (children now older) we always had one night out on our own. We couldn't fault the sitters and would highly recommend the service - get a bit of 'you time'.

    Have a blast!:T

admittedy we were in Penrith, not sherwood forest but we saw tonnes of ducks - and their babies. I'm sure your son will love it.

    have a great holiday

Sherwood has plenty of ducks, AND loads of rabbits, especially on the grass outside Huck's near the lake!:T
