Daysoft are by far the cheapest. I have finally got into their website and Acuvue Moist are £30+ for 30 pairs. Daysoft are £9.98 delivered for Daysoft 58 which is the 'generic' lens. Wow.

CL lens test is free at Asda if you have an eye test, which is £15.

    Or free at Tesco

But you only need an eye test as DaySoft only ask for the power, which you can get from an eye test (although you have to tick that you have also had a contact lens check)

That isn't true is it? My Lens strength is different to my glasses strength. It makes a huge difference. I bought my Lenses to my glasses strength and they are not right at all so this is why I went and got my eyes done again, the CL are lower by -.25 in one eye and -.5 in the other.

Daysoft do not make torics so this is why they do not ask for anything else.

Daysoft do ask what brand you are wearing so they can fit you into theirs and some I cannot wear because of the Base Curve so as long as you know what brand suits you then you'll be fine otherwise get some lenses fitted (even if you have to buy a month for casual wear) and then you can go off any buy elsewhere.

The one thing I have just realised is that I have 2 different Base Curves on my lenses and Daysoft 58 did not give me that option on different sizes. For the sake of £10 though I think I'll get them and see how they fit.
  • I have a new prescription for daily contact lenses, Ciba Vision Focus Daily. Same strength both eyes. I need to find a reliable online retailer that is able to sell 1 box of 30 lenses only. I use them very infrequently so 90 lenses (typically sold online) are too much for me. Someone suggested eyebuddy.com to me but I have not managed to place just one box in my shopping basket. Does anyone know of a suitable retailer?

So Can I just order contact lenses with daysoft with just the prescription (power of lenses) Do they no check ? I just wanted to order a months supply of lenses to tie me over because my prescription has run out by a couple of days and was wondering if I can order them even though my prescription has only just run out? I have the power of my lenses to order them but I didnt want to waste my time if they check to see if my prescription is up to date, I am going to renew it next month.

Not legally you can't and don't expect them to be the same as your Dailies - totally different material and method of manufacture.

Went for my very first contact lens fitting and lesson today. The optician popped them in and they were brill - can't remember the right term, maybe monovision? My right eye is for reading, left eye for distance. Was warned it might take time to adjust, nope - it was immediate, overjoyed:T:T
Then came the lesson. I just cannot do it.... Not bothered about touching my eyes, but had problems getting them out, managed eventually, but just could not get them back in, even once:( My left eye is particularly bad, as soon as I touch it waters uncontrollably. Had to give up when my eyes were all sore and bloodshot, and I am due to go back for another try next Saturday.
Just wondered if everyone mamges it eventually, or might I have to give up?

    Would appreciate any advice:)

    Couple questions from a long-term glasses (18 years+) wearer:

    - There appears to be many types of contact lenses. How do know exactly what's best for me?
    - Can I wear them all the time, or would I need to wear gasses sometimes too? (can't see much without them)
    - I seem to remember being told that a prescription for glasses is different to the one for contact lenses. Is this true?

Any other adice would be appreicated, thanks.

These are all questions that you'd be best of asking ypur Optician.
