Vodafone Wanting to cancel my contract or for me to pay them more money

Vodafone have sent me a letter stating that they intend to close down my current contract Anytime 200 as of the 01st June 2008 even though my contract is not due until September 2008 amd put me on a new price plan for the remainder of my contract.

This causes me problems for two reasons, firstly I am getting a discount of £15 on this contract so I am actually only paying £15 per month, which they have confirmed they will not honour on a new contract. Secondly the new contract they will put me on is £30 per month.

Is this legal, can they invoke changes on my contract before my contract is due for renewal? They are saying that it is, as they are giving me the chance to break my contract early.

they probably can in all honestly, although its not very ethical.

At least you get to keep the phone.

There is a forum on the vodafone web site that is monitored by Vodafone staff. you could post your situation their.

O2 did this to me this week too. I was on O2 200 minutes and only ever used 20 or so a month. I was also getting a 50% line rental discount and a loyalty reward which meant that my monthly bill was about £10. When my contract finishes in June, they want me to either double my payments or go SIMplicity.

    I'm going to go PAYG.

I've been with O2 since they were BT Cellnet back in the 90s, so although I'm not a big spender, I am a loyal customer...

  • We too have had a change imposed on us.

They have now stated that there terms and conditions allow them to change a tariff - as long as it does not cost any more. Of course, this means they can charge the same or less BUT give you less minutes and texts.

They do allow you to leave the contract - but you apparently still have to give 30 days notice. What is that all about!!!.

Best thing was, they wanted to change me from...

£35 per month for 275 minutes and unlimited texts to...

£35 per month for 750 minutes and 250 texts.

Of course, their systems will tell them that I don't talk but text!!!!!

What really bugs me is that if I were a new customer I could get 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £30 (see web site).

    So Vodafone.....

I am going to give you 30 days notice (of course I get to keep the phone) AND
start a new online contract with you for less money per month and on a better deal (as above) AND I get another new phone as part of the bargain.

So actually, you are doing me a favor!!!!
