Report phone loss ASAP
A word of warning if you think you have left your phone in a friend's car!
My daughter arrived home from a salsa dance lesson in Bristol and realised her mobile was missing from her bag. It was the early hours of the morning and she "assumed" it had fallen out in her friend's car. Next morning she phoned around and no-one had found it and the club (in Bristol) didn't have it either. I phoned O2 and reported the phone stolen, it was turned off when we tried to ring it and was definately on the previous evening when it went missing.
Today I've got the online bill for the phone and some toerag ran up 100 pounds worth of calls to Morocco in the 2 hours after it was pinched.(Between 11.30 pm and 1.30am). According to O2 T & C I'm liable for all calls made before they are notified of the loss. I had thought the phone would have been stolen and sold on, stupidly it never crossed my mind that it would be used to run up such a huge bill.
If your phone is missing, report it and get it barred - it's a hassle if it turns up later, but it could save you a small fortune!

"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
