Over paid for 6 years - Help Needed !

Hiya all,
My friend has been paid a weekend enhancement payment for the last 6 years which unbeknown to her (and immediate managers who authorised the payment )was already included in her wages.
It amounts to £2400 which she has just been informed will have to be paid back in full
How does she stand and if she has to pay it back how much do you think would be a reasonable monthly payment, bearing in mind that her wages will be reduced by £40 as from now already.
cheers

They can claim back overpayments for the past six years.

It would be reasonable to pay back whatever she can reasonably afford x
    Gone ... or have I?

Is that £2400 after tax or before tax - not to mention the NI that she has paid in error!

Then I think your friend needs to write a letter stating that she would like confirmation that the deduction will be made before tax and NI is calculated to compensate for the extra tax she has paid on this overpayment.

Also I would get confirmation of what would happen if your friend left the company would they expect her to take out a loan etc
