Door-to-door sales… can we ask them to be more responsible?

There should be a cold-calling preference service, where you can register not be cold-called, like the telephone and mail preference services.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

I think this was mentioned earlier, but if I have any cold callers I always say I'm renting and am not repsonible for the bills. They just give their excuses and walk away. Haven;t had any for a while now, must be lucky!£20k In A Year Challenge100

This is the poster I display near my front door bell. Since using it the number of unwelcome callers has dropped by 90%.
The images came from the Crime Stoppers web site.
Please feel free to down load and use.

Could you possibly provide the link for this as I have searched and searched on the crime stoppers sight and can't find it. would be very useful as we get a lot of cold callers where I live.0 -

I had the same problem, so I copied and pasted it into an email, then printed it off.
It's smaller than the proper one, but ATM it's better than nothing!................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
Hi,
Sorry for any confusion. Here is a link to the Ms Word Document that I created using the images from the Crime Stoppers web site.

I wouldn't worry about printing that off, when I was out with the guy we just went and called anyway. Only about 10% of people with those in the window actually refused to listen to us because of it.
He just used the excuse "we're not selling anything, we're offering a service" because apparently there's a difference.0 -
Being like many others a couple of summers ago and strapped for cash i joined the cobra group. Being a confident person anyway and iv always excelled in sales i did really well. Yes its a bit wierd in there high fives and stuff but its a negative enviroment and you have to do it to keep sain. I had 3 happy months doing it making 200-400 a week. I did if for one of the charitys and so it felt good at the same time. Not everyone is aggressive on the doors and there was fairly strict controls and punishments if people complained.0

I really take offence at these bullies and I am afraid anyone who cold calls me gets one polite refusal. If they come back with anything I am verbally abusive and swear at them. They are the scum of the earth. They invade my space and get what they deserve.0

okay, this thread does scare me a bit. You see, I have my own business - door to door sales of speciality foods. I'm not a crook, or a thief, or a fly by night, and it's real shame that the perception is that if someone knocks on your door, there must be something dodgy about them. I don't knock on doors displaying posters like that, and I constantly worry about being accused of exploiting someone over a jar of chutney. The sad thing is, that there are people who would benefit from a shop that would visit them, rather than the other way around. Unfortunately the general assumption about doorstep sales means that they'll never even know about me.0

I have just joined this new service https://www.ukdoorstepchoice.org.uk
if someone knocks we take their details and pass it on to ahelpline - they then contact the sales people0
