I rejected the £7.99 offer and Body Shop gift, and the invitation to cancel if I didn't want to accept this offer. They said that as I knew gifts were subject to availability.

I replied that I didn't know that gifts were subject to availability as they hadn't included it in their T&Cs, that they had already taken the subscription from me some two months ago so as I understood it they had already entered into a contract with me, and that I would accept a £42 Aveda voucher.

This morning I received an email saying that they would be sending me the Aveda gift.

I hope this is helpful to someone else.
  • I also wasn't happy with the Elemis gift set - more on the fact that I have sensitive skin and was only really interested with the Aveda candle anyway. I've been back and forth with IPC for 4 weeks - but I stayed tough and finally got there. Firstly they said:

    Dear xxxxx,

    Subscription Reference Number: xxxxxxxx

Thank you for your email regarding your subscription to Marie Claire. Please be advised that unfortunately the fact that free gifts are subject to availability was missed out of our terms and conditions for this offer.

We can either send you the body shop free gift as a replacement, or alternatively offer you a full refund of the monies paid so far.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused in this matter. We look forward to receiving your response shortly.

    Kind regards,
    xxxxx

I went back to them saying that if I had defaulted on the T&C then they would make me abide by them, so the same should apply when they default on them. This was backed up by advice from trading standards. I also said I would accept a Aveda voucher instead if they would prefer. Anyway I received this response this morning:

    Dear XXXXX,

    Subscription Reference Number: XXXXXXX

Thank you for your email regarding your subscription to Marie Claire.

Please be advised that we have had an Aveda gift returned to us at our warehouse that we have now arranged to be sent to you via proof of delivery method. This should arrive within the next few days.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for all the inconvenience caused in this matter. We hope you will continue to enjoy Marie Claire on subscription.

    Kind regards,
    xxxxxxx

I think that coupled with DeloresK response, it is hardly a coincidence that they suddenly have a Aveda kit available. So if you're really not happy you should email them!!!!!
  • Got my Aveda gift set this week, so don't give up hope!
