Good progress, I generally find that items do get bid on in the last few minutes so I hope your item gets a good amount.

74% of target is great going, well done.

Well Ebay auctions ended last night and the TV sold for £90 more than we paid for it, which is great. The table on the other had didn't sell, although there was someone at the end (who was the highest bidder) desperately trying to increase the final bid, but because no-one else was bidding it didn't go up so it didn't sell. Was a shame, but that's life. Will think about relisting it this evening for 3 days as there.

The money raised from these will go into savings for holidays next year.

Chased the survey cheque and this was posted on Wednesday so should arrive today, it therefore won't make it into November OP, but Dec is looking strong already.

Pity you can't contact the interested bidder....

It's good to see December is looking positive despite the extra costs in the month, well done

Have managed to OP £102.31 so far this month. Am waiting for all this to hit the account and then will start OPing the £1323 that has just matured from a regular saver and bond drip feeding it into the mortgage, over the next few months.
Will be including this on top of target of £1200 I have made on the 2009 MFW thread.

Christmas present funds all in place, just need to transfer over into current account as its spent.

Went car hunting today, have a good choice and have narrowed it down to:
    • Mini clubman Estate with Pepper pack
    • VW Polo 5 door Bluemotion 2
    • VW Golf (55 plate with extras) on a reallocation so would choose again in 13 months
I like the idea of the Golf but it would cost the same as we're spending at the moment, whereas the Polo would save around £50 per month and the Mini £10-£15.

The extra cash would be useful for building up savings etc, but not really sure which one I prefer. Ohh decisions decisions.

Is there any major difference on the road tax? Worth a check using the VIN to ensure it is accurate.

What about the service costs, although I would guess these are similar for the cars you list?

An additional point, depending upon how long you intend to keep the car is depreciation rate.

Whichever you choose, DO drive a hard bargain with the garage this month. Remember they will be anticipating next weekend as the "last" to hit sales targets this month. If you are cash buying with PEX just talk about price to change, push for 12months road tax, perhaps first annual service free, get a FULL warranty for 12 months etc... you have nothing to lose, just let them realise early in discussion that you have other options "close by" which you will drive too if things don't look good.

    Best of luck!

Thanks Stuart, should have said Its a company car, but I have to pay contribution towards it, so I've added up the contribution, tax and fuel costs (based on the combined MPG) and compared that with current costs.

We'll be selling my current car, which I anticipating getting around £3k for which we can then put towards getting a kombi van that DH can use for the business and we can use for weekends away with the dog.

Made my decision last night and ordered the Polo, up to a 12 week wait, but there are fair stock levels so might have it at the beginning of Jan 09 with any luck, can then get on and sell the Bora.

Still not quite there with meeting my target for the year, have just over £150 to go, but have done so well I'm not too bothered. although there are still a few weeks left.

Have just opened the post and there is a cheque for £56.50 tax rebate I wasn't expecting. Yippeee. Not quite to traget but I'm sure I can find the outstanding few pound somewhere!!:T:T

Once the cheque is banked we will be at the point we were when we bought this house 3 years ago (before seeing the light we added the mortgage fees to the mortgage), the only way is up now (well down actually but you know what I mean) :rotfl:

I have just sent the final OP for the year another £81.31 consisting off the tax rebate, some Amazon sales and 20p savings, takes the years total to £1015.90, which is over the £1008 I wanted it to be. So pleased.

Will wait for it to hit the online account and will update my first post. So excited.

Have to concentrate on sorting out some savings for some things we need doing in the house over the next few months so the MFW will be taking a back seat, although the matured savings will be drip fed a bit every week until they are all in there, so will drop it another £1,300.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and prosperous new year and thank you for the support over the past year.
