business name on return

i doubt any people look at the return address until its required0

I can't see that the return address can make any difference. As soon as the envelope has a bit of thickness there is something more than a letter in it and it could be of some value. A thief surely would not worry about who was saying they had sent it.0

I don't have a real trading name but I do use a name to trade under on ebay and Amazon and thought that as I am running this properly I should have able labels and a rubber stamp made up with my details as a return address.
Yesterday I used a different post office and they told me that having a business name on the return address is just asking for problems as it implies the package contains something worth stealing.
I've been told that before too. However few companies send out parcels 'incognito'. Amazon has their name all over their parcels and they still use Royal Mail a lot of the time (my sorting office largely holds their items). It is disgraceful that the Post Office would give that advice (it amounts to "don't use us we're thieves"), whilst parcels go missing I don't think there is that large a scale of theft in Royal Mail..0 -

Never heard the one employee a day stat before. I just thought if Amazon continue to use it the theft rate can't be that bad. BTW I haven't used RM for 2 years, not because of service, but because we only use couriers now. Before that I can't recall a big loss of parcels and they were labelled as being online purchases with return address..0 -

over the whole network its a small number to be sure
amazon gave tnt its contract but returned to rm
so were doing something right0 -
Just to add to this, you need to decide if the risk of theft outweighs the look of professionalism to your customers. Being easily identifiable to customers and labelled well gives the impression that they are in safe hands and leads to repeat custom..0
