business name on return

I don't have a real trading name but I do use a name to trade under on ebay and Amazon and thought that as I am running this properly I should have able labels and a rubber stamp made up with my details as a return address.
Yesterday I used a different post office and they told me that having a business name on the return address is just asking for problems as it implies the package contains something worth stealing. My stamps do vary but the ones I used yesterday said 'Thank you for your purchase from Soolins books-and-more' (that's not my real name BTW) and then my postal address.
The other stamp I used just says 'Soolins-books-and-more' and then has my address and they thought that might be marginally better, however they said it would be best just to put my real name on the able label so it looks like a personal parcel.
Any thoughts?

Mmmm - tricky - so the post office are scared they may be tempted to steal your parcels???
That's like confessing to a crime before its been committed. :rotfl::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
......but to answer the question. I don't think the name would make a difference really. Don't think many petty thieves are big into reading in any case, so would probably not be interested in stealing a book.
You could always change your trading name to: 'Final Demand - Invoice Enclosed'?:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

Slightly worrying that they thought it might lead to theft!
I ahve been told at my P.O.that if I am sending badges to make sure they do not FEEL like money as they tend to go missing. "Where" I asked, answer in between here and the customer!!
Funnily enough the only item (touch wood and fingers crossed) to not reach its destination was a badge!
Stamp it "postal test - delivery survey" and see what happens!!0 -
Another reason for not putting your company name on return labels is that some people prefer discreet packaging.
Can see someone ordering items from 'whips, chains and smiles ltd', not being in and left with a neighbour!!!
Hmm can see the conversation on that one!Financial Aims for 2012:

I think the PO branch are being a bit mad here to be honest. Our company is purely mail order and we have business packing tape plastered over every packet. There is no more of a risk, well hasn't been for the last 15 years. In fact if parcels/letters haven't been delivered we've always had speedy returns because of our labels.
Our post office is full from 3pm onwards with business and ebay customers and I've never been warned about this.
getting a bit paranoid aren't they? do they want the custom or not??0 -
Maybe then I'll stop panicking and just carry on using my labels and return address stamps, it would seem a shame to waste them all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have just taken over a party supplies business and when I had some business cards made up from DCP (or something like that), I could choose some parcel stickers the same. These stickers don't have my address on but they have the 'business' name on, with my name and email address and they just go onto the front of any parcels I send relating to the party stuff, on anything else, I just have my postcode/house number and surname.
I wouldn't worry Soolin, I have heaps of post through with business names on.0
