Brownie Uniform x 2

Hi,

I hope someone may help with ideas of where to buy/acquire....

I have asked at the local group and they just say best bet is the internet.

I have twin daughters, both of whom have now joined Brownies, I am looking into the uniform which appears to consist of so many different styles and is expensive (especially when i need to buy 2 sets).

I am of course looking on Ebay but the problem i have is buying 2 lots, needless to say i would like to get them the same as it would eliminate any quarelling....

Has anybody any ideas or even has twins themselves who are looking at selling uniform???

My daughters are 7 years old and very small, approx 20-22in waist , 24in chest.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this post.

i had 2 kids at brownies, my oldest has just started guides. When they grew out of things i gave them to the brownie leader to pass on to new brownies, they weren't in fabulous condition, maybe just the odd hole or stain but i don't think that mattered. So it may be worth asking brown owl if she could send out a letter asking for any spare uniform to be passed on. I know how expensive they are.

Freecycle could be an option too. I got DD2's first Brownie sweatshirt form there. :)

You really only need to buy a t-shirt, trousers and mrobably a sash for brownies - please don'y go and buy avery bit of kit they have going!!!!

Having said that i know how expensive the stuff is, but we some uniform from the brown owl as I'm not proud about having 2nd hand stuff.

I too am not proud and certainly wouldnt mind buying/donating for 2nd hand, however, as i said in post earlier Brown Owl suggested i just look on the internet.

Not really very helpful when i have 2 to buy for......

I bought the "skort" as it can be worn in winter with school tights underneath and summer too, plus wont be outgrown as quickly as trousers as the length does not have to be perfect.

I picked up my daughters from the official brownie shop (via the leader) but just a piece or so each month to make it more affordable. They don't mind them mixing with their own clothes usually!
  • is there a trading post in your area? they sell the uniform but might do 2nd hand stuff?
you could also approach the Guide Leader (rather than brownie leader) and see if any of her mums have got old uniform to sell.

if all else fails, you could just buy the sash (for badges etc) and get a primark (or other generic brand) yellow tshirt and some school type trousers?

Have you done a search on https://www.gumtree.com (scroll down the LHS and click on the icon for 'other cities' to find your own area)

How about posting a 'wanted' ad on freecycle and/or gumtree for your area?

Are you a member of 'Tamba' (an organisation for parents of twins and multiple births)? If you look on their website:
    http://www.tamba.org.uk/twins-clubs.php
There are links to local groups and some of the local websites have items for sale, specifically aimed at twins (not suprisingly)!
    HTH. good luck :j:j

I don't think that generic yellow tops and brown trousers would be suitable - AFAIK you do actually need to be in proper uniform.
  • Hi, I don't know if this will help but they do sell 3 packs of the old Jeff Banks style brownie uniform on the guidingessentials website.

    3 polo shirts £10
    http://www.guidingessentials.org.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/GirlGuiding/216/24177

    or 3 t shirts
    http://www.guidingessentials.org.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/GirlGuiding/217/24177

I don't suppose it matters if its old or the new style but they are pretty good value. Otherwise try e-bay or ask at a local guide group if any of the guides have their old brownie uniforms going spare!
