Alternatives to Mosquito Repellent for Kids

Does anyone have any alternatives to mosquito repellent. We're going to Greece next month with our 2 under 5's and would prefer to protect them from bites with something as natural as possible and preferably as cheap as homemade chips.
I'm not sure whether I should have posted here or in the families board - so please let me know where you think this should be.
Thanks in advance.

Any body lotion that contains "citranellol" will act as a natural repellant.
I use Avon Skin So Soft dry oil body spray (the turquoise one) and that works very well. It is often on BOGOF in the Avon catalogue, or try the website.
Since I have discovered it, I always check labels for the above ingredient and use as many products containing it as I can in the summer (I get a bad reaction if I get bitten, by anything, not just mossies!). It is in shampoos & shower gels sometimes too.
I have yet to find it in a sun tan lotion, but that would be a plus.0 -
citronella essential oil diluted in some grapeseed oil is good or lemongrass. Lemongrass is nice in a cool bath, the scent stays on you, gets rid of insects and helps reduce perspiration too! I would advise you consult an aromatherapist first though to be safeKeely0

tiger balm
(not the orange one that stains, the clear one you can get in on ebay)
(also very good to apply on the bite if it hasnt put them off, lol
(also very good up the nose to stop pollen, by the way)0 -
Found a couple of tips on another website that mosquitos apparently hate. Has anyone ever successfully tried any of these?
Marmite - eat for 2 days before and once a day while on holiday
Teatree & Mint/Tee Tree & Lemon/Lemon shower gel - use for 2 wks before and while on holiday
Lavender oil
I also noticed tips on garlic, brewers yeast, vit b or zinc tablets, but not sure how I'd convince the kids to take these even if they were chocolate covered!
Thanks

I only read this thread because I thought you meant you had found a repellent that kept kids away.

Thanks, I had found some other threads but not these and the others weren't relevant for kids. Off to the Avon site now, lets hope they're on offer.

Is it all the Skin So Soft products or just the body oil?
Currently some items are on offer, but don't want to waste money unnecessarily...

Have a look at this site
http://www.safariquip.co.uk/i_insect_repellent_information.html
They have a very useful information page about the different types of insect repellents.
I've bought items from them in the past and been very happy.
I also once used one of those plug in things I got from the airport - it had a very bad effect on my chest.0 -
