Shopping on Amazon

Options
My gf bought a camera (Sony T300 black) on Amazon recently though she didn't notice you wasn't buying directly through them, rather she was buying through a firm called Allcam world of portables.

When ordering the camera, she chose the all black variant of the camera and the seller note states that it has a full 12 month warranty. However, when she recieved the camera today, she opened the box to find a warranty card stating that it had a limited warranty and it was for USA only. Also the camera rather than being full black as advertised had a silver shutter instead -_-.

So at the moment we're waiting to speak to the company tomorrow to arrange a refund, but be very careful when ordering off amazon.

All the black ones seem to have a silver shutter or am I not looking at the right thing?
I think you could have talked to the company first before leaving that feedback, this bit "absolutely awful experience and feel robbed" is a bit OTT when you haven't given the company a chance to sort out your complaint.

I hope you get the warranty thing sorted OP.

You're a bit of an idiot leaving negative feedback so quickly aren't you!! You received it yesterday, you haven't given the supplier a chance to do anything and you've left them negative feedback simply because your girlfriend shouldn't be allowed on the internet with a credit card!

As you have purchased from a UK-based seller, THEY are liable for the 12 month warranty. The fact that it is USA stock is irrelevant.

Yes, your girlfriend should be careful ordering off Amazon!

Allcam have a returns policy which will solve your problem:

    Allcam World of Portables

You may return for refund within 7 days from date of receipt, but do keep everything in original condition. Postage is not refundable. If a returned package is not in original condition then there might be 10-30% restocking fee depending on the condition of the return.

I see you have left a neg already for the seller, very unfair IMO you havent given them a chance, i think you have jumped the gun a little, the picture shows a silver surround around the lens.

""The camera is from USA and the warranty card states that it has a limited warranty (USA only), the camera also has a silver shutter lense compared to the black one advertised - absolutely awful experience and feel robbed."

You also had a cooling off period on Amazon marketplace if bought from a UK seller and could have returned the camera for a full refund

We spoke to the retailer and in order to get a refund we'd have to post it back via recorded delivery (quoted at £30) and we'd have to foot the cost of that ourselves.

Yes my gf should have been more careful with buying off a dealer through amazon, but to be fair to her, they didn't exactly make it clear in terms of what she'd actually be getting. At no point does it point out that it's imported stock or that the colour of the lens cover is different. Yes it doesn't affect the performance of the camera, but at the end of the day its not what she picked.

The feedback she left simply reflected her experience.

Withabix -calling me a idiot about my gf leaving feedback is totally unnecessary but hey, whatever rocks your boat.

I recently sent a petrol disc cutter by special delivery with insurance for less than £15.00.
What's the camera made of that it would cost so much to post, and only recorded delivery? _pale_

    Whatever rocks YOUR boat!

If you think that you are not an idiot if you leave negative feedback due to your own mistake and before giving the supplier a chance to even respond, then that's your opinion. It probably isn't anyone else's.

God help us if you ever use eBay!

Quite a few other people seem to agree.

Return postage wouldn't cost you more than £10-£12 and it should be sent by Special Delivery, otherwise a postman will probably steal it.
