It's your computer!
Have a look at the Techie FAQ's. Have you got an antivirus, firewall and software like AdAware, Spybot search & destroy installed? (Links on the FAQ's page to a variety of security sites.)Torgwen..........

funnily enough, mse wil not open in firefox for me this morning, only IE0

I personally think this is either spyware or a virus. It's possible that the file that serves the local Page cannot be displayed has been altered to read and link to the site you mentioned, I'm not sure what the file is, paging mr skint to the thread! He may know!0

Strangely enough I got the same problem. It was the same in Firefox and IE. Eventually I came back in after a day or two.
Another site I use, https://www.bigfoot.com, is still showing the same, but I can see it from work ok.
I've run anti-viris and Spybot on my machine but they say it is clean.
I wonder if it is some DNS problem?0 -
I tried the norman anti virus & it said i had nothing although i can get all the chat today but bidnapper stil not able to get.I think i do have anti virus anyway on it.0

Ever tried adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ download then install, now dont have any programs runnind just the desktop showing as you would have as if you just turned the pc on, then turn off system restore, Right click my computer icon, properties, system restore, turn off, now start adaware, BUT check for updates now, one youve got the new definitions run a sacn, click on Start, tick Perform a smart system scan, then Next, after a scan, you can remove any objects by following the onscreen instructions, the Turn System Restore Back On, Back in My Computer.
Also install and run http://www.ccleaner.com/ very easy to use, close browser window first though before a run0 -
I ran the latest version of Ad-aware too - the PC is clean.
I'm increasingly doubting there is anything wrong with my PC which I am careful to protect.
Using the Bigfoot example if I type in their IP address I can access their page, but not if I enter their URL, so some kind of DNS redirection must be going on.
I have been reading up on "DNS poisoning". Here is an extract from an article about a different attack a few months ago:
It seems the idea is to redirect you to a malicious web site which will try to infect you if you have not been updating your browser with security patches. In this case the target seems to have been taken down already as they haven't been paying their fees.According to the Internet Storm Center, which posted an alert on its Web site, it had received reports that the attack was redirecting traffic from popular domains such as google.com, ebay.com, and weather.com.
DNS cache poisoning occurs when an attacker hacks into a domain name server, then "poisons" the cache by planting counterfeit data in the cache of the name server. When a user requests, say, ebay.com, and the IP address is resolved by the hacked domain server, the bogus data is fed back to the browser.
Another tactic, dubbed "DNS hijacking," is similar, but simply changes the domain server so that traffic is actually re-routed.
If this is the cause it explains why several people were affected at the same time. It is all those who hit the hacked DNS server.
If so I have no idea what to do about it except wait for the server to eventually refresh the correct IP address from a primary server.0 -
i also tried to load pc rescue but that didnt do any good. What is the difference between url & the other thing you said.I cant see its up to website to sort as it was fine yesterday then it went again, it has been fine again all day today. can anyone give me a different link for https://www.bidnapper.com as this wont work for me.0

Try booting into Safe Mode (F8 on startup usually) and delete the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUsername>\Local Settings\Temp\ and reboot.
Local Settings is a hidden folder so you'll need to set Windows explorer to Show hidden files and folders to see it.0
