Hi are there any ways people know how to get through to a UK call centre with Abbey or perhaps any of the other main banks? The main number you phone is a lottery as to what country you get through to:mad:

Barclays just select the option for personal loans/overdrafts and you will get a sales adviser in Sunderland, Liverpool or Coventry. It's because in Mumbai where the contact centres are for Barclays abroad-legally you cannot sell a finance agreement or complete an application governed by English or Scottish law if the adviser does not sell in it (the country)-therefore all sales teams in Barclays are based in the UK.
This is why when the adviser in India gets your interest in a product (they are purely service advisers) they transfer you to a colleague in the UK (A Sales and Service Adviser)-these job titles will be volunteered to you as part of the 'disclosure process'. Only adviser in the UK can sell products and close sales...advisers in other countries can only act as introducers to product.
Natwest are all UK (apparently)
