If he's single and on benefits then all he'd be getting is his rent/council tax paid and £60/week to live on. That's to pay all his bills and to look for work.

If you add up the bills, then add in cheap food, there's not a lot left to "live" on.

Maybe he just genuinely doesn't have the money.

I see your point, however he has no bills due to going bankrupt a couple of years ago just to clear his debts. he has no contract mobile does not have to put credit on a mobile. Oh and he lives with his mother who buys all of the food etc. The rent is paid for the both of them as she is on some kind of benefit or pension or something.

so if I add all of that up aswell as him looking for work (which won't be for another 3 years going off his previous) then he has £65 a week to live on :)

Agree that money may be tight and travelling may be an issue but if he is emailing the school regulaly (IMO not out of any genuine concern but to get at you and to try and prove that he is a good dad:cool: )he obviously has access to the internet so could email his son. Phone calls can cost pennies from a landline or phone box and a letter costs the price of a 2nd class stamp! Contact does not always mean fae to face contact IMO

I have had the same problem with my ex in-laws who made very little effort to see or maintain contact with my son after his dad died. I have now cut contact with them as any contact they did have was upsetting my son. Well i say I have cut contact, they have not been in touch now for 4 months:cool:

Misswig, when he was previously on benefits he used to travel every 3 weeks to see his son. Now the train fair is only £2 more expensive and he has less bills to pay so it is not a case of not being able to afford it. I dont think he would agree to email our son as our son is only 5 and only just learning to read so I am guessing that he would think I would not read it to him or such like. They have a landline in the house which is free on an evening and he has internet and sky tv! So if he prioritised a bit then he would be able to afford it, in my opinion it is just to try and have his cake and eat it and also make my life difficult.

Rusty can I suggest you edit that letter a little further and remove all names from it? If it would make you feel better, you could start Dear Eejit, but I'd take your son's name out, and your own from the end.
