I got my Dell system, less monitor, for £152 at the beginning of the year. It was pretty basic but still does the job perfectly well.

If I wanted something a bit better I would build it myself but for a functional PC it's hard to do it cheaper than a Dell.
  • I'm writing this on the 5th PC from Evesham (since 1995) and 4 are still going strong. Only the old Pentium P90 with a 1Gig HDD and 64Megs of memory and Win95 has been put out to grass and even that still works.

Warranty is great, help desk is great and they have won the PCPro best manufacturer and best After Sales titles for the last 2 yrs.

    Nuff said.
  • :) I am so happy!
  • I would very easily build my own using parts from:

    microdirect.co.uk
    cclcomputers.co.uk
novatech.com (or .co.uk cant remember which)
    ebuyer.com

Those 4 have competitive prices for different hardware aspects so comparing is always good :)

hunny? is that the first step on aksing me out for a drink? ;)

And ye I know not everyone knows how, but if you learn its a hell of a lot cheaper :P

I must admit, I did set my pc on fire recently from building a machine. Stuck a £400 gfx in, went out, came home, and room up in smoke.

Surprisingly the gfx survived, but the motherboard had a big melted hole in it. Turned out had a faulty PSU.. will never buy from dabs.com again as their support took 2 weeks to respond to any contact from me at all!!!!

Yeah, it is, but I got lazy and had a Dell bought for me. lol.

Haha! Sorry. I soldered a fan onto my power packy thingy magiggy when it packed up - my home built AMD that my ex nicked. Grr. lol. Yeah, single, buy me a drink NOW, lol. Brain gone, pished as a pc mart lol. Didn't burn the place down with my soldering iron luckily. I did it sober too. lol.

I'm single too.. good start ;) lol.

Never the less, there should be tigher insurance on PSU's. If my house burnt down, Dabs told me they would claim NO responsibility if it was a faulty PSU. THe psu manufacturer told me it wasn't there problem but Dabs.

    O how confusing and annoying.

But now it all works fine <3

I would really hate to Break this up But I really did just want to know
just where you would buy from, thus not having a huge debate
and confusing other less technical minded.

    Thankyou Guys

Looks like Dell is the main supplier to go with :)
