Do you need a proper TV stand *ducks* I am planning on lobbing my TV on an el cheapo table from IKEA *ducks again* (for a tenner or less) I know that you love your new TV (just stroke the box until you move) but a proper stand isn't really an ESSENTIAL. I already have my el cheapo table but I am sure I got it for next to nowt.

Where did you get the chopping board from? you could always take back if you don't like it any more. I had the same issue with cutlery earlier this week. I got some from Argos on Sunday but then saw some on the Viners website (I love you for the saucepan thread) that were good value so took the Argos ones back. (and yes, I also got the gala saucepan set too from the Viners website)

Finally, I would get salt and pepper grinders rather than pots as freshly ground is nicer (and I think they look better too if you are looking to impress the laydeeeeeez).

Well I just got it out, and the TV :p and it is deserving of a proper TV stand. It's a big b*gger I must say. And the TV! :rotfl:

Chopping board was from Tesco. I am happy with it. I took 10 minutes to decide! :rotfl:

Yeah the salt and pepper 'pots' were grinders. I like them! Might look for some wooden ones, although I know they are an @rse coz you don't know if they are near empty!

Gonna order my pans now me thinks!

Not brilliant on knives, but i think a paring knife is one you use for vegetables, although i might be wrong.

Thanks for the link to the viners website too, could see myself spending money there

as for the tv stand, perhaps if you do have a big b*gger (tv :p ) you might want to get a stand that does the big boy (tv :p ) justice

All you really need, if you dont want to buy a block set, are...a cooks knife,a serrated knife and a carving knife and you will be fine:cool:

It's the posh name for a veg' knife. A little one, for use for peeling and chopping onions, garlic, carrots, etc. Easier and potentially safer for detailled work. Anything 10cm and over can be a bit unwieldy and dangerous.

Evening SS! LOl re the chopping board - a whole 10 mins to decided lol! Seriously you dont need expensive knive etc...just get a couple of mid range ones fro tesco (about 7 each) & see how you go. I got a block from john lewis & prefer my cheapie ones! Expensive knives are a luxury!! If you decide you love cookig then thnk of getting good ones but for now just get cheapies & see if you like cooking first!
Glad you like the TV!! Cheapie cabinet from Ikea are sturdy & look ok! Think mine was 40ish...hang on...

There - got mine in silver & you can move it about which is handy for when you drop something down the back!!
Definately get salt & pepper grinders - the flavour of fresh ground cannot be compared to cheapie stuff & can change a meal from manky to yummy...one of my faves is pasta wth butter a bit of fried bacon & tom puree and then fresh ground pepper on top. Simple, quick & delicious! Should suit lol!!
Have you actually managed to find somewhere to live yet?!!

Nah I'm focusing on ipod speakers first! :D :rotfl:

No I'm gonna phone up places on Monday and go for a little drive around the area aswell. Seen one I really love but is over my budget. Hoping a private landlord might have something similar and hopefully cheaper!
