That's strange! ... i remember first hearing it on GMTV then in the papers back in September last year. I didnt even bother asking Tax Credits because theyre not going to advertise it. No doubt theyve told their staff to say that to avoid answering questions but i know the IR definitely broke a ruling. It seems to have just been brushed under the carpet
Hello,
I work for HMRC (Tax Credits Helpline). Last Year TCO did send out a number of letters saying they were going to be looking into claims for the 03/04 tax year and we were told about this, however, we were not told that it was with regards to repaying money to customers for monies recovered. We were told if claims had been incorrectly finalised due to an error on TCO's part then they will not recover the money.
With regards to the comment about advisor's being told not to answer questions, that is not true at all!!!

It just seems strange that it was in the papers and on tv about it but TCO staff dont know anything.
As for deciding whether they would not recover the money ... I had already paid all the money i was given back so surely in that case, if TCO had incorrectly finalised my claim then i would be entitled to it back?
Who knows ... the plot thickens0
