Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • This is slightly unrelated but I see there is a lot of people with psoriasis here, there is a good booklet on www.psoriasisireland.ie, which might be of interest. Thanks

I get a spray tan for special events or before a holiday and I really like it but I have fairly olive skin anyway. Make sure you apply the barrier cream they give you REALLY well to your hands and feet other wise you get patches. But on the rest of your body it comes out nice.
I exfoliate with a home made concoction of honey, olive oil and sea salt. It is quite harsh but it is great especially for elbows and knees, and it moisturises as well. Best of all it costs next to nothing!

So much for being a Moneysaving website, this site is going to cost me a fortune.

I had my spray tan done yesterday - allow a good half hour for all the un/dressing, putting on barrier cream, listening to instructions etc

Walked round town aftrewards doing errands looking like an orange umpa lumpa - no wonder everyone was smiling at me, they must have thought I was trying to be a Katie Price ( well I have got the chest already).
By the way, I didn't realise I was looking so bad, as the colour 'develops', so when I walked out of the shop I just looked a nice golden brown - honest !!

Anyway, I have just had a shower - and really pleased with the results.
It is not perfect by any means, but I think that is more me being a novice etc.
You have to turn slightly during the spraying - and I didn't do this at the right time, plus I must have breathed in when I shouldn't.

But, bottom line is I am well pleased with the effect, :T and would seriously consider paying  to have it done for a special occasion - eg if I had a prom night.
I will have to see how long it lasts, and may just see if I can manage another one courtesy of Glamour before the offer ends :p

Many thanks to Pink Clover for all the helpful tips, another couple of things to remember is:-
    1) you shouldn't go to the gym and exercise the same day as you have the spray done,
    2) you are supposed to leave it on for at least 8 hours - so remember you will be walking around like an orange umpa lumpa for the rest of the day
    3) Get your timings right - I exfoliated the same day as I had the spray done, so therefore couldn't moisturise after the exfoliation, as it was the same day as the spray !!

In other words, plan the session, and think about what you need to do, and what you cannot do the day before, the day itself, and the day after eg shaving, exfoliating, moisturising etc.
  • Got my cake and drink yesterday :D They didn't sell the same ones as listed in the magazine but had alternatives, woo x
  • is there a branch in middlesbrough

Well I went for my tan today and the booth experience terrified me!! :(

I have been in the booths for sunbeds before but I really didn't enjoy this, it was really loud and I couldn't hold my breath for long enough so breathed loads of it in and then felt like I was having a panic attack!

This probably makes me sound really dumb but I tried to stand right etc but it hasn't really had much of an effect on me if i'm honest. I exfoliated/moisturised etc etc and took my make up off before I went in - I didn't look any different after i'd rubbed all the stuff off when I came out and I look a bit brown now but nothing drastic (I definitely SMELL like the stuff!)

Glad I didn't pay for it anyway! At least I know what the experience is like now.

I didn't have to book either, I just turned up and they said I could come back in a half hour for the spray. They took a copy of my fingerprints?! I wonder if thats for the actual tanning booths to make sure the same person doesnt use so many minutes a day/week etc.
Proud meowmy of four fuzzy cats :)

Err......, I don't think you are actually supposed to rub it off - unless some expert corrects me.
I was told to allow the blower to dry me, and there was some tissue type things to blot any excess off. The wet-wipes I used to clear the barrier cream off my hands and feet so I could get dressed - also to wipe my lips as I didn't want to be eating any !!!
As I said in my earlier post, the colour seemed to develop ( deepen) over the next few hours, and it was only the next day when I washed everything off.
I am really impressed with my colour, and have already received loads of compliments - not that I have been flashing the tan you understand.:D

If that is right, (that you have to leave the spray on for at least 8 hours) it just underlines the fact that you must listen carefully to the instructions given, and do ask if you are in doubt about anything. Even if it seems a daft question. Better to ask and get the answer, than keep quiet and do it wrong.
