I would have doubled the biscuit recipe, you could have always frozen some cooked or frozen half the dough in a cookie log to be cooked at a later date.

Otherwise, I am all for the fudge lol. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi xxvickixx how do you make the fudge??

I got the cookie receipe from this website:

Cream together 200g of butter with 75g sugar. Add 125ml of condensed milk. Fold in 250g plain flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder and 300g chocolate chips (I only added 2 bags which was 200g this was plenty). Make into balls, put onto a baking tray and flatten out a little bit. Bake until slightly golden. Don't leave them until they look too brown cos they will be over done.

Need a sweet tooth my OH says they are too sweet!

Hi, Sorry I don't have a recipe. I did try fudge ages ago and I don't think it was nice as I haven't made it since!

I have never used CM for cookies so I'll have to see how they taste, DH has a very sweet tooth and is a cookie monster, if I make some tomorrow I might score enough brownie points for a lie in on Mother's Day!

xxvickixx did you make the cookies? My OH took half to work and they finished them in the first hour and demanded more - looks like I know what to do with the other half the tin now :rotfl: :rotfl:

I used condensed milk to make my version of Scottish Tablet which is just one of the many home made dips I place around the illuminated surround of my chocolate fountain hire business - I prepare my own fudge, made with the Belgium chocolate I use in the fountain, plus the Scottish Tablet, from the recipe below, as a substitute to that grotty 'claggy ket' bought stuff. It's much nicer and I make the tablet in the microwave on 50% power making sure it doesn't boil over the edge of the large bowl I use - I hate having to handle the bowl with sticky sides and start washing the microwave plate half way through making the fudge!

500grams of vanilla sugar (I have 4lb granulated sugar with vanilla pods left in it for a good two weeks - alternatively a few drops of vanilla essence just as you are about to beat the fudge.
    200grams of condensed milk
100grams of good butter - I use salted as it does aid the flavour
Three quarters of a cup of fresh milk - skimmed/semi/full fat - your choice

Pour the milk over the granulated sugar. Lightly melt the butter in the microwave until liquid and then add the condensed milk. Stir well. Add to the sugar/milk mixture, stir well and place in the microwave on 100% power. Ensure you keep a close eye on the mixture and initially stir regularly to make sure the granulated sugar melts. Once the sugar is melted, and you see signs of boiling, reset the power to 50% and set away for 10 mins, watching the mixture does not boil over the edge of the bowl, and stir occasionally. If it looks as if the mixture is going to boil over, open the microwave and simply stir the mixture whilst in the microwave. You may have to repeat this a few times or even reduce the power to 30% depending on the size of the bowl you have used. It will take an approximate cooking time of 20 to 30 minutes depending on your power setting. I don't 'mixture drop' into water, but know by the look if it is cooked to the degree I like for my tablet. I like the mixture to be a light to medium tan colour. If you do drop some into water it needs to form a firm ball when rubbed between finger and thumb. When happy with the consistency remove from the microwave, add vanilla essence if necessary. I then beat the tablet with my electric hand held mixer for about 30 seconds and, using my trusty silicone spatula, transfer it to a lightly buttered tray - it will be starting to quickly harden at this stage so get it in there asap! I find it easier if you take a plastic spatula or blunt edged knife and run it through the cooling mixture into the size square you would like - makes it much easier to snap into squares when totally cool. I use a tray that is about 10" x 7" but you use whatever size you wish - the smaller the tray the deeper the squares meaning bigger pieces to eat :D

Transfer to a container of your choice and slowly savour it - or, just scoff it as fast as you can - it's bl**dy lush! ;)

    Best regards,

    Christine

    Or try Mud puddle cookies

    55g Margarine,
    11oz cooking chocolate.

Melt theese together over hot water and mix well, set aside.

    14oz can of condensed milk,
    220g self raising flour.

    1) Put the melted chocolate and margarine in a large bowl and add the tin of condensed milk, mix well then add the flour.

    2) Let this mixture cool for around 5 minutes and you should have a nice thick cookie dough. Use a teaspoon full and make little round balls. Place on lined baking sheets and bake at 160c for only 6-7 minutes- do not overcook!
Theese will look soft but set when cool with a soft centre, hence the name, mud puddles!

    3) Quickly hide from any dh, or children keep in a air tight container. Enjoy! :D
