The actual policy/refund is not what I was annoyed about it was the lack of staff knowledge/ Supervisor's attitude over a small value product.

There was a programme on Channel 4 recently about shoplifters, and how they can sell goods on at car boot sales, where the people that sold them on were telling customers just to take it back to the shop and ask for either a refund, another size etc.

I don't have a problem when someone buys something, wants to take it back in the original condition with a receipt. Retailers won't have a problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is people, like the OP, thinking they are being hard done to.

You haven't got the receipt, B&Q are well within their rights.

Exactly! It just seems lazy that people do not bother to keep their receipt. It causes so many problems with fraud and theft - which of course are passed onto the consumer by higher prices.

B&Q's normal policy is that if a customer does not have a receipt then they will give credit vouchers. This is at their descretion though, so IMHO the OP does not really have grounds to complain.

There has been a change in policy...or there is going to be a change where no-one will get a refund without a receipt.

Duty managers have told me that shoplifters would take something off the shelf and walk right upto the returns desk for a refund....then take credit vouchers as the refund. :eek:

Maybe everyone should be encouraged to use a credit card for purchases. Then you would have 2 receipts for the purchase.
