B&Q are losing the plot !!

Options
I tried to return a tin of paint (unused AND own brand) to them as I had purchased too much (without a receipt). I have never had problems doing this in the past, but some jobsworth refused without a receipt, I will not drive home to get a receipt and they have lost a high spending customer ! Their loss is Hombase`s gain. I might chop up their store card and give it back to them with a piece of my mind. No wonder they are losing money.

Quality. I tried to get a price match a jigsaw I had bought. Woolies had CLEARLY the same one, but with woolies written on it. They would not price match because it "was not the same brand" - of course nobody sells B&Q own brand stuff!!

I walked out of the store vowing to never return, aside from bringing the jigsaw back a week later for a full refund (it was ever so slightly faulty, which I was going to put up with)

It is your responsibility to keep your receipt! They dont have to refund anything without a receipt.

You don't need a receipt to prove goods were purchased providing you can prove that you purchased the goods, ie credit card receipt, witness ie partner, friend who may have bene with you

You DO need a receipt if the t&c's of the 28 refund policy require you to have a reciept.

Your statutory rights are unaffected, i.e. if the product is faulty and you don't have a receipt, prove it by other means and you can have a refund. But it is not a statutory right to be able to have a refund because you bought too much.

This was not the OP's point, he was saying, he has never had trouble in the past, that was his point. I have returned one item years ago to BQ warehouse without a reciept, I was given a credit note, I was happy with that.

  • I would have accepted either but they were just being awkward I think ! Head office no better - they have not replied
  • Still no reply from B&Q lack of customer service dept. ! Obviously they do not give a toss.
