Please help,
When the boiler is heating the hot water the radiators also come on full blast even when the central heating is off and thermostat is turned right down. What could be causing this?

Depends on your system but usually caused by a defective three port valve e.g. like these here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
All rads or just one?
Is it a combi boiler or a conventional one (i.e. one that heats water in a airing cupboard cylinder)?I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

It should be easy to check if it's working then. Water enters from the pump to the centre port and either goes to hot water, central heating or both. Just feel the pipes! Honeywell valves have a manual lever to operate the valve. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I have a similar problem. radiators are coming on full blast so much you can't touch some of them. I'm turned them all off but boiler was on all last night. It didn't shut down like normal.
I've looked in the airing cupboard and I've got a black Honeywell box with a manual lever and I've also got a Myson Power Extra which also has a manual lever on it. I've tried moving the Honeywell one and it just got back to auto (boiler is manually turned off at present). Would it just be a faulty diversion value - if so which one??
I cancelled my BG Homecare cover last year as they were not loyal to existing customers so I told them where to go. I know the valve is only about £40 then fitting, so I should be saving in the long term.
Cheers

Hi Please Help
I have a ALPHA 240E combi and it heats the radiators up when I run the water for a shower. Can anyone tell me if I have a problem and what I need to do.
Thanks0 -
First of all - yes you do have a problem.
I would suggest that you have faulty divertor valve in the combi itself.
It needs replacing I'm afraid. Ring around, tell them your model no. etc and try and get the best quote you can.0 -
Thanks for the advice RADCON .Will start after the holiday week-end.:T :beer:0
