We have a 3 bed terraced. We pay £20 gas and £60 electricity but £15 of the electricity is due to heating our lizards vivs.

people should be careful to check that the monthly DD will actually cover their usage over the 12 months..

Is all very well thinking you use £25 pcm of gas when actually the DD doesn't cover it and you actually use £45 (which it would apear many people on here do!)
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

I have a 2 bed semi- detached house, myself and 2 children. We're on key/ prepay meters for both - British Gas and try to put on £10 each a week.

I've just received my annual gas summary and wanted to find out how much I've actually paid for my gas (i know i also pay for having the meter before anyone says) but I can't actually find anything on the net about how much they're charging per kwh.
Does anyone know or know where I can find out??

Paying by DD is supposed to be cheaper but only if you are careful to have the money in otherwise it's best to pay the bill when it comes in, I save so much every month so that I spend less in the summer and more in the winter, ie. heating etc. I know I pay a bit more but at least I'm sure I don't go overdrawn.

Holy !!!!! 4 bed detatched, me and missus 50 Gas, 28 Elec, and thats E7 Water heating!

(and yes, the Monthly DD does cover the bills - infact, since i switched the Central Heating off and turning the Water Thermo down i'm now slightly overpaying towards next winter)

we don't have DD - and pay each time the bill comes in. the bills are inevitably miles out (either a vast underestimate if prices are due to rise so that we pay extra later or a vast overestimate if prices are due to drop). always quite annoying, but with a meter reading every 3 months we know where we are. what happens with DD is these situations? with prices due to go up, i guess paying 'extra' over the summer is a good thing?

5 bed terrace, me, dh, and 2 teenagers then another 3 teenagers 2 days a week. We pay £100 per month by prepaid meter for electric, do not have gas but have Oil heating and can cost another £80-£100 per month to run this in winter. We can do without teh oil for 3 months during summer.

We used to pay electric by DD of £80 per month then realise our bill was creeping up and up and ended up oweing £350 which we paid and changed for DD to meter. One less bill to worry about.
    TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T
