Advice with BR

Thanks so much for all your replies.
Right, been thinking about the car... it is paid for, but it was my husband who bought it, so will it still come under the BR? I think the V5 has my name on it though, but I had no income so they can see it was him who paid for it?
Also, I&E, I have no income other than CTC and CB, and that goes towards the grocery bills, my husband pays everything else, so what would I put for the I&E?
Hubby was told if he went BR then he would get an unofficial promotion ban. If we discount my debts then we can pay his off inside 8 years we think, even if the CCCS let us reshuffle our DMP to account for the hight cost of food and fuel.
I am so glad that I have you all to ask these questions, otherwise the whole thing would be even more scary than it already is!
Just one other thing, my husband is going away in July and August, so do you think that it will be sorted before then or am I likely to be going to the court and OR alone? Not sure about getting someone to look after my son either as we have no family nearby :-/
Thanks again everyone xx0 -
Hi ya.. just read this thread !!
Can't really say much that hasn't been said already but you have come to the right place for help, advice and support
If you're on benefits you will not receive an IPA... with regards to your OH's income... on the forms it asks how much a partner contributes to the household (not how much he earns) so you put down all the expenses of the household (bills, rent/mortgage, housekeeping etc) and then put an amount that he contributes to it all.
Not sure about the car .. if it's in your name then technically its your car, not to sure how it works though!
It can be sorted by july/august .. some courts operate a drop in on the day service, other you can book a couple of days/weeks in advance so best to check what procedure your court runs.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Well, I just rang the CCCS, apoke to this lovely man who was really helpful and kind.
He said that it doesn't matter whose name the V5 is in, as that is not the owner, so car is fine which is a relief.
Have got to come off the joint account with Nationwide ASAP and have my own account for the 12 months of the BR.
He said that unless I start work within the 12 months of the BR then I wont have an IPA, which is another weight off my mind as I was wondering where we were going to find the money!
Just going to have a look at the forms, he gave me the web address to download them.
Oh and he told me to open a Co-op cashminder account ASAP as well, and get the CTC and CB transferred to pay into that as he thinks that Alliance and Leicester will close my account.0 -
Hi
Chihuahua_Mistress
By the sound of you, You are a fighter # 1 BR is not that hard to do read posts on here and you will hear the relief people have had going BR #2 you will be able to get an account (basic) # 3 And most importantly you are the only important thing. Debt can be erased by BR.
i wish you best and i hope you can get help for yourself in your own time .As you really are the only important thing in all this.NO!MY NAME IS NOT WORZELIM JUST FEELING SLIGHTLY ROUGH TODAY0 -
Thanks lifesucks, you made me cry again reading that.
On the plus side, I have rang the Co-op and they approved me for the cashmider account over the phone, he said they will just send the stuff out in about a week and I don't need to send them anything with my address, so hopefully that is all sorted.
I am feeling a bit better now I have some info, but I think that I will still worry about it until it is all done and dusted. I know it is the only way forwards though, and that life will be better for us when I come out the other side.
Got to wait to ge tthat stuff through then get the CTC and CB people to pay into that account instead, hope they don't take too long to sort it as I want to get things moving now I have made the decision!0 -
Hiya, just thought of another qn, should I ring the court now and ask them how long it will take to get an appt, as I want to wait till the CTC and CB are sorted, and I am off hubby's account, but would like it done ASAP after that as hubby is off somewhere for a few months in July.0

I would ring now & see what sort of time it takes.....you can always ring back at a later date when your readyWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

It's definitely worth doing so you're prepared in advance .. they may have a drop in one or you may have to book some time in advance but at least you'll know

Wow the lady was really helpful. It is Guildford we come under apparently.
She is sending me out a pack with the forms to save me printing them, she said she can't help with the SOA but she can help with the petition.
I just have to turn up Mon-Fri between 9am and 9.30am and they will see me and get me in to see the judge on the day. She said she can't tell me how long I have to wait as they fit them in between other cases, but she said at most will be a couple of hours and if I really need to, I can take my baby as well if I can't get anyone to look after him.
She said I just have to get the usher to ask the judge if it is okay on the day for my husband to come in with me, but it may be that he will have to stay outside with my son if he is getting fractious if it takes a while to get sorted.
Am feeling a bit more positive about the whole thing. The thing I am dreading hte most is the interview with the OR though. Like I said I have no income, and I am just wondering how much they are going to pull my husband's finances around, just got to wait and see I guess, but I am hoping they will leave his stuff out of it as he is doing well on his DMP (or was until I joined in!)
Thanks again everyone for your help!0 -
