Orange- Handset Multiple Issues....

Morning
The day has not long started and already having problems!!
Basically, I have an 18 month contract with Orange which has run since the end of October 2007, previously been with Orange for a long time prior to this but this was my first upgrade and new contract (through choice, couldn't be bothered with an upgrade before). Bought from an Orange shop by the way.
Opted for a Sony Ericsson W910i.
Since then have had problems with:
Shake controls don't work
Text message facility becomes corrupt and needs a software download to work again (says facility is unavailable when trying to go to inbox or compose)
Switches off for no reason
Battery charge holds for less than 12 hours
Phone seizes for no reason
Blocks incoming and outgoing texts for no reason periodically
Can't answer calls when you can get an incoming call
Doesn't let me make outgoing calls at times
If it switches itself off, it will take a good hour of trying to switch it back on before you can get it on again.
It has been back to Orange for repair once, they said they could not find anything wrong with it and they said it was obviously a fault that could be sorted out with upgrading the software weekly. They did say they were aware of faults on this model that corresponded with what I complained of. I have aksed for Orange to take it back in but they won't, tey just say the last time it came in, nothing was wrong with it.
Today, I just can't use the phone at all, it has been ringing, but I cannot answer it. Tried to send a text but it won't let me, it just says it can't send the message, have a 5 bar signal and hubby who is also on Orange is sending texts with no problems.
Does anyone know of the best way to ask Orange to replace the handset, Sony Ericsson were quite helpful, they said a number of phones has corrupt software and I should ask my retailer about replacing the handset. All Orange say is that it has been in for repair once and they couldn't find anything wrong and that they would only replace for an identical model if they could place a fault.
Will call them tomorrow (don't like speaking to their outsourced call centre- very difficult to try to explain anything) and I just wanted to have a few points to note, really don't want the handset I have at the moment, anymore, but would accept an identical handset, if they could do this.
Appreciate any help with this....

most of the issues look like its something to to with the crappy orange firmware thats loaded on it.
back up all your data (pictures, videos, music, numbers, texts etc) to the memory card and remove the card then try a master reset to see if it fixes the calling issue.
as for the short battery life, disable 3g in menu > settings > connectivity tab > mobile networks > gsm/3g networks and select gsm only0 -
Hi
Thanks for the tips there, I have done the master reset but that hasn't resolved the problems, husband has been trying to ring me but I can't answer, likewise, unable to make or receive texts.
Never had a problem mobile before now!

I have had my k800i for 21 months and it was on gsm + 3G. Does it make much difference?

Oh - great!! At last someone who understands the frustration of this phone. I have had 4 replacements in the last week alone for the same reasons. It appears to be answered when i press accept but they can't hear me and vice versa. Also i have had freezing issues and it has turned itself off a few times too. Also it chucks off my bluetooth mid conversation. Orange have told me there is no problem with this phone but having looked on the internet i have found a myriad of complaints! I have found that they also type up the complaint differently which means that unless it 'seems' you have the same fault 3 times they won't replace with a different model. I do wonder how they get away with this as surely this should be covered by the sale of goods act? Orange have told me that because my phone is faulty and not their coverage this is not the case??? I think this is probably untrue but i'm not an expert. How can i get this phone changed? Any advice? Please???0

i think all the issues above are to do with the rubbish loaded on orange phones (ie. the crappy orange firmware) and that the w910 runs on a new platform (db3150).
if you debrand the phone using davinciteam.com, then you will invalidate your warranty but you will be able to keep the software up to date with generic unbranded SE firmware releases0 -
Hey people,
I am having problems receiving certain multiple page sms's with my LG Viewty and would like a different phone altogether. I've tried all the standard attempts to fix it with Orange but it's still not working. After reading a post on a Viewty forum I can pretty much confirm that it's a problem with all viewty's.
I asked Orange about 5 minutes ago if I could have a different phone and they said no.
I'd like the Nokia N95 8gb.
I am within the 28 day period of having the phone.
All I want is a phone that works properly.
Surely I have rights to get this phone replaced with a different make/model???0
