I lived in a couple of bedsits in between shared houses and buying my own place and I was very happy in them.
I had my own cooking facilities in both but shared toilet/bathroom. I would have preferred my own, but it wasn't the end of the world.
Cooking smells never used to bother me. It was ace to be able to lie in bed watching the telly and just wander over to the cooking area if I fancied some food in the middle of the night or whatever!
I couldn't do it now as I have accummulated too much "stuff".0
